Fairfield University Simulation Operations Specialist, Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies (part-time) in Fairfield, Connecticut

Job Description:

E SS EN T IAL F U N CT I ON S :

The following functions apply to all areas of the simulation center and, across all programs within the Egan School:

  1. Maintains proper supply and function of healthcare and simulation equipment, including but not limited to manikins, medical devices and related multimedia technologies, including:
  • Utilizes computer software programs to maintain equipment, supply, computer, audio-viusal hardware and software inventory and maintenance needs.

  • Directs and installs hardware and software updates provided by equipment and software suppliers.

  • Collaborates with Simulation Director regarding purchase of IT equipment and supplies.

  • Advises faculty of new teaching-learning acquisitions.

  • Functions as a resource to Egan School faculty regarding computer and equipment use.

  • Assists with training of faculty and students with technology (such as electronic health record), and collaborates with IT.

  • Supports electronic communication tools throughout the simulation center.

  • Repairs or resolves a wide variety of problems that may occur with technical and healthcare equipment. Escalates problems to vendors, contractors, or university colleagues as needed until a resolution is reached.

  • Monitors scheduled maintenance to ensure that equipment is operational. Works with manufacturers or vendors to correct equipment deficiencies in order to minimize down time.

  • Liaises with IT when new equipment that connects to the network is acquired to ensure optimal configuration.

  1. Promotes safe and secure working conditions, including:
  • Promotes the proper utilization of equipment and materials.

  • Notifies simulation director immediately of any unsafe working conditions.

  • Maintains student confidentiality

  1. Coordinates the daily maintenance, safety, cleanliness, organization, and function of the simulation center, including:
  • Performs set up, clean up, and re-stocking of simulation equipment as directed.

  • Organizes equipment, supplies, and simulation center.

  • Organizes space and equipment to be ready for student learning. This may involve moving equipment and other materials that can weigh up to 100 pounds.

  1. Participates in the growth and development of the department, including:
  • Attends departmental staff meetings

  • Communicateseffectively with supervisor and simulation team concerning pertinent departmental and university matters.

  • Promotes an image of efficiency and courtesy throughout the university community and consistent with the Egan School

  1. Performs other duties as assigned
