Fairfield University Visiting Assistant Professor, Psychological and Brain Sciences in Fairfield, Connecticut

Job Description:

The Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Fairfield University invites applications for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor for the 2024-25 academic year (Fall 2024 and Spring 2025). The area of specialization is open, but preference will be given to applicants with expertise in social, cognitive, or developmental psychology. Applicants should have a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and are expected to have completed a Ph.D. in psychology or a related field, but strong ABD candidates will also be considered.

The teaching load is 4 courses per semester and will include courses such as General Psychology, Statistics and Research Methods, as well as courses in the candidate’s area of specialization.

The Department consists of 12 full-time faculty in our undergraduate program, representing a range of specialties. We are housed in a spacious, well-equipped facility in the Bannow Science Center. There is a vibrant culture of undergraduate student-faculty research and a growing institutional emphasis on the health sciences. Psychology is one of the largest majors in the College of Arts & Sciences, offering a Psychology Club, a large internship program, and chapters of Sigma Xi and Psi Chi. The Department also offers a major in behavioral neuroscience and a master’s program in industrial/organizational psychology. The salary and benefits for the position are highly competitive.
