NORC partners with government, corporate, and nonprofit clients around the world to conduct survey research that informs critical decisions facing society.

  • NORC Field Data Collectors, internally known as field interviewers, play a significant role in collecting the data that drives our research.

    The Ideal Candidate for Field Data Collector

  • Flexible, part-time work (20 – 25 hours a week).

  • Our most successful field interviewers typically dedicate 4-6 hours a day to interviewing.

  • Self-starter who can manage, organize, and commit to your own work schedule while meeting weekly requirements.

  • Comfortable meeting with people often unannounced at their homes, jobs, or other public spaces to conduct interviews.

  • Has prior field interviewing, sales, teaching, healthcare, or customer service experience.

    Requirements For Employment:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • High School Diploma or GED Preferred.

  • Valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and access to reliable transportation.

  • Available to work a mix of weekdays, and evenings/weekends often to reach people who are not home during the work week.

  • Must be willing to drive 50 – 100 miles to complete required tasks.

  • Must attend one 7 day in-person training session between February, March, April; conducted in suburban Chicago.

  • Must have working knowledge and ability to navigate multiple aspects of technology and materials, including computer, iPad, and project phone; strong proficiency with Microsoft Office.

  • Comfortable with collection of physical measures (height and weight), as well as collecting biological samples (saliva).

  • All employees hired for this position must present evidence of their identity; authorization to work in the United States and pass a background check.

    Salary And Benefits:

    This position is classified as intermittent. The pay rate for this position will be$19.00per hour, based on experience and geographic location.

  • NORC will contribute to an individually owned, fully vested retirement account for those who meet eligibility requirements.

  • Intermittent staff are eligible to make pre-tax or post-tax contributions as part of NORC’s Supplemental Retirement Plan.

    Other Important Details to Note

  • TheNational Longitudinal Study of the High School Class of 1972(NLS-72) project will include contacting respondents who first participated in a study in 1972 and subsequent follow-ups through 1986. Many of the participants are currently in their early 70s.

  • In-Person field data collection will begin February 2025and is anticipated to endJune 2026. The field interviewer role is project-based work that ends based upon business needs.
