Job Description:
We are looking for an individual to design, develop, and troubleshoot embedded software for machines, with motion control systems experience.
The job will include evaluating products and choosing the best solution to fit specific mechanical needs, designing, developing, and testing software for embedded systems, and debugging issues along with improving performance and stability. The employee will work alongside mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to integrate various components into existing and new machinery.
The ideal candidate will have some experience with machinery and a basic understanding of mechanical engineering.
Location: Falls Church, VA with potential for occasional hybrid work

Required skills/experience:
Motion control systems
PLC programming
Microcontroller programming
Servo and Stepper motors
Digital and analog sensors (optical, mechanical, time of flight, distance)
Machine buses and communications including Ether/IP, EtherCAT, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, raw sockets
Experience with manufacturing machines
Basic hardware/mechanical engineering knowledge
3+ years of experience with embedded systems
Problem solving skills & self sufficiency
Desired but not required skills/experience:
PIC32 programming
FPGA programming
Robotics

The likely salary range for this position is $88,275 - $115,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
