At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a GDIT Cloud Systems Engineer you will lead the efforts in GDIT’s Emerge Labs. Our work depends on a Systems Engineer joining our team to provide process and systems engineering leadership for the cross functional research and development environment – supporting multiple GDIT solution investments. In this role you will work with our CTO research and development program and project leaders to help engineer, deploy and maintain the platform and customer environment for GDIT’s solutions. A successful candidate will have hands on cloud architecture and deployment expertise and proven experience building, deploying, and maintaining complex Cloud solutions in AWS and other service providers (e.g., Azure and Google). HOW A SYSTEMS ENGINEERING SR. ADVISOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Contribute to strategy development for GDIT Emerge Labs and service offerings. Partner with specific GDIT technology, growth, and program leaders to build next generation solutions.

  • Work with GDIT’s CTO organizations to engage Cloud partners to execute joint solutions and driving the technical architecture.

  • Work as the lead of a multi-disciplinary team to build, communicate, and implement new cloud solution offerings and services that help accelerate customer adoption and integration of the cloud.

  • Design and define system architecture for new or existing Cloud systems – with modern Cloud DevSecOps and Infrastructure as Code (Cloud Formation, Terraform, ARM)

  • Deploy Cloud Landing Zones, Cloud deployment pipeline services, and Orchestration frameworks – with operational Cloud Security and Management process

  • Work with our Digital Accelerator project teams and program leadership to build and deploy integrated solutions that we can demonstrate to our customers

  • Support R&D project teams in engineering and deploying complex solutions in a multi-tenant, hybrid, multi-cloud lab environment

  • Integrate cutting edge technologies to address customer use cases leveraging cloud native and partner capabilities in the areas of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, IT service management, software development and more

  • Support GDIT’s growth by providing industry leading capabilities for our customers

  • Work with our consulting teams to create technology demonstrations and pilots that address customer requirements and help represent these capabilities in our Innovation Center

  • Engage with GDIT technology partners to help identify and resolve integration challenges

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Education: BA/BS or equivalent; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

  • Required Experience: 10+ years of related experience; work history may be considered in lieu of years of experience

  • Security Clearance Level: N/A

  • Certifications: AWS Solutions Architect (preferred) or Developer Associate or other equivalent certification from AWS, Azure or Google

  • Required Technical Skills:

  • Expertise engineering and administering Cloud operations, automation, security-networking, and SaaS services

  • Expertise in AWS Cloud DevSecOps and Infrastructure as Code (Cloud Formation, Terraform) with exposure and experience on other cloud provider environments including Azure and Google

  • Direct experience engineering and administering Cloud systems, orchestration, governance, and best practice services hosted in cloud environments such as Google, AWS or Azure

  • Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated track record of driving emerging/disruptive Cloud technology, open source software, Security or Software as a Service delivery in a public sector context.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention-to-detail with the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast paced, dynamic work environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to write exceptionally and be able to create and document compelling cloud operating process, architectures, usage models

  • Ability and desire to rapidly learn new technologies where administrator guides may not exist

  • Preferred / Desired Skills:

  • Experience with cloud monitoring, reporting and FinOps tools such as Apptio or Kion

  • YAML development experience in support of AWS Landing Zone Accelerator (LZA)

  • Infrastructure as Code and/or cloud automation development experience

  • Experience working with FedRAMP (e.g., AWS GovCloud) authorized cloud environments and services

  • Relevant industry certifications such as CCNA, MCSA, ITIL, AWS, Azure or Google

  • Experience supporting technical demonstrations for senior technology leaders

  • Cloud Program work and technology solution leadership in at least 3 of the following areas: DevSecOps, Security/FedRAMP/Compliance, Cloud FinOps & Governance, Automation & Orchestration, Container management, Data and App migration, Software Engineering, DataLakes, and AI/ML.

  • Experience with Zero Trust capabilities, to include identity federation and single sign on solutions

The likely salary range for this position is $153,000 - $207,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
