Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Take vital signs for e.g. temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiratory rate2. Assist in Activities of Daily Living such as assisting with bathing, eating, dressing, and walking.3. Turn and position bedridden patients to prevent breakdown of their skin.4. Change bed linens.5. Record the amount of oral intake and measure urinary output.6. Assist with oral medications.7. Assist in changing non-sterile dressings (bandages).8. Supply and empty bedpans.9. Give emotional support to patients and family members as needed.10. Keep a record of the care given.11. Record and report any changes in the patients’ condition, environment, or any concerns to the RN, LPN, and/or Schedule Coordinator. 12. Follow infectious disease precautions and universal precautions to prevent the spread of organisms.13. Provide light housekeeping as needed. Personal Qualities:1. As a HHA you will be spending much of your time with patients who are ill, injured, disabled, or dying. Some of the tasks you perform may be unpleasant, so you must be compassionate and truly interested in helping others. 2. The ability to read a map and probably drive a car are necessary because a HHA may see about two patients during a typical day and may have to travel to each location. 3. Entering someone's home and adjusting to their individual situation requires flexibility and the ability to improvise.4. Other important qualities are patience, honesty, good health, the willingness, and ability to follow directions. Physical Requirements:HHAs spend a lot of time walking and moving about. You must have sufficient skill and strength to turn, lift, and assist patients with movement. You must use Body Mechanics all the time.Qualifications:1. A HHA must have successfully completed a basic training program in home health aide services and possess a certificate of completion approved by the New York State Department of Health or New York State Department of Education.2. No experience necessary
Minimum Salary: 10 Maximum Salary: 10 Salary Unit: Hourly
