INSPIRING LIVES Transitional Life Skills Coach (West Union) in Fayette, Iowa
POSITION: Transitional Life Skills Coach (TC) - West Union, Iowa.
We are looking for dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team for a new and exciting program that aims to help clients with unique needs during their transitions from hospital-settings to a home-environment. This rewarding direct support position allows a positive start and better quality of life for our clients' journey to sustainable brain health.
Our TC staff are responsible for implementing skill acquisition and behavior modifying treatment plans. The TC will assist clients with day-to-day activities, observe and document their mental health symptoms and behavior, and implement interventions to reduce, manage, and/or modify behavior and mental health symptoms. To be successful in this role, you will display a compassionate nature, empathy and discretion in your work. You should have excellent communication and time management skills, and be able to develop and maintain healthy relationships with clients, supervisors, and coworkers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Lead therapeutic activities (Learning and practicing prosocial coping skills, health relationships, medication management, symptom management, etc.)
- Help with learning life skills (cooking, eating, grocery shopping, making and attending appointments, money management)
- Lead recreational activities (i.e., drawing, arts/crafts, movies, games, puzzles)
- Helping with activities of daily living
QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS
- Required: 1-year of experience working in Mental Health.
- Pass a background check, physical, TB screening, and drug test.
- Valid drivers license and favorable motor vehicle record.
- Full range of body motion, manual dexterity and normal range of vision and hearing to ensure safety of our clients.
SCHEDULE OPTIONS:
- Full-time (with benefits) Nights: 6p-6a. 36+ hours per week. Every other weekend (see weekend differential below). Overtime (extra shifts) available on occasion. Around 200 days off a year!
- Part-time (with some benefits) 1st Shift: 7a-3p. 36+ hours per week. Every other weekend (see weekend differential below). Overtime (extra shifts) available on occasion. Around 240 days off a year!
- Fill-in: Must work at least 16 hours per month but no more than 29 hours per week (on the average). Great for those wanting a flexible second job or to work around a busy schedule! No benefits.
WAGES
- Wages from $19.02/hour, plus a host of ways to earn additional pay (see below)!
- Credit for any previous experience beyond required amount! +$0.15/hour for each year of experience.
- $2.00 for bachelors in human services, psychology, criminology, social work, sociology, counseling or other related degrees.
- $0.50 for associates in human services, psychology, criminology, social work, sociology, counseling or other related degrees.
- $0.50/hr after 6pm.
- $1.00/hr during weekends.
- $0.25/hr after successful 90-day probationary period.
