The primary role of this position is to manage the eye care and ocular nutritional categories at Walmart. Category Manager is responsible to uncover business opportunities that will drive topline volume, generate additional revenue, and improve the customer P&L. Position prepares and presents presentations to retailers on topics including major category reviews, joint business planning reviews, promotional effectiveness, pricing and ad hoc analysis that helps identify opportunities and drive topline sales. Category Manager identifies insights and formulates recommendations that maximizes profitable sales volume and increased brand penetration.

Responsibilities

  • Use retailer syndicated and POS data to prepare and deliver presentations to retailers regarding information and recommendations in support of strategic customer initiatives. These include:

  • Major Category Reviews

  • Retailer Performance

  • Trends and Opportunities

  • Pricing Effectiveness

  • Promotional Effectiveness

  • Conduct in depth product assortment analysis and provide compelling recommendations to drive category growth

  • Conduct analysis and prepare all retailer POG’s during multiple category review processes

  • Attend strategic customer meetings at retailers to present analytics, insights, and recommendations to grow the business

  • Conduct pre and post promotional analysis including ROI calculations and provide promotion performance effectiveness and efficiency recommendations

  • Deeply penetrate the retailer organizations and act as the lead liaison between the buying department, the order replenishment department, and the category management department

  • Assist SAMs in data collection for weekly and monthly forecasting

  • Prepare retailer presentations/templates for business reviews, business planning, account operating plans

  • Responsible for creation and distribution of weekly, monthly, and quarterly scorecard reports

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or a related field is required

  • 3 - 5 years of successful sales or category management experience (Beauty or Healthcare preferred)

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, presentation skills

  • Strong analytical skills, ability to make quick/calculated decisions, and ability to perform effectively in a team and individual work environment are a must

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Ability to establish priorities to meet goals

  • Highly motivated and results driven

  • PC competency required, including but limited to IRI, PeopleSoft, JDA, Gladson, Illuminate, and Microsoft systems (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
