Supplier Quality Engineer

HIROTEC Manufacturing America, located in Fayetteville, Tennessee, is part of the HIROTEC Group, headquartered in Hiroshima, Japan. HIROTEC Group delivers body-in-white closures, exhaust systems, flexible closure tooling, and stamping dies to automotive customers around the world. With a US headquarters in Auburn Hills, MI, HIROTEC Group operates 33 facilities in eight countries.

Currently, we are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to become a part of the HIROTEC team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing incoming supplies and products from vendors to check for defects and ensure quality.

  • Conducting tests and assessments on products to identify quality issues.

  • Maintaining detailed reports on supplier quality, including defect rates and areas that result in flaws.

  • Providing technical advice and guidance to suppliers to reduce defect rates.

  • Participation in program meetings, lead and support supplier audits, APQP, and PPAP activities to ensure all deliverables are being fulfilled.

  • Establish close relationships with assigned suppliers and actively drive continuous improvement activities.

  • Initiate and follow-up on corrective actions and verify effectiveness.

  • Collaborate with engineering and suppliers to alleviate discrepancies in product specifications and evaluate cost reduction opportunities.

  • Point of contact and supplier representative regarding all questions pertaining to quality and technical matters.

  • Drive acceptable incoming quality levels to support manufacturing, cost, capacity and delivery goals.

  • Perform supplier quality systems and process audits as well as lead supplier improvement/development programs.

  • Serving as a liaison between our company's senior management and the vendors to identify quality issues and come up with solutions.

  • Create reports documenting errors and issues for fixing.

  • Ability to make accurate assessments of problems, communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a strong interest in a collaborative working process.

  • Inform customers of any issue with a product’s quality and assure a corrective plan is in place.

  • Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work area.

  • Participate in and lead 5S, Quality, Safety, Delivery, Cost, Kaizen, and Lean manufacturing activities.

  • Other duties and projects may be assigned based on the operational objectives of the company.
