Aston Carter Construction / Engineering HR Generalist in Federal Way, Washington

A construction / engineering consultancy firm in Federal Way, WA is currently hiring for a HR Generalist. Note that for this role, 24 hours a week will be spent handling HR functions and the other 16 hours will be handling receptionist duties. The HR Generalist will be responsible for completing a variety of tasks to support the daily operations of the HR Department, including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and other areas related to HR management.

Pay: $37.20/hr. (set final pay, no room for negotiation)

Location: Federal Way, WA (100% onsite)

Shift: Standard Morning Shift (Monday - Friday)

12 Month Contract to Hire

(Key responsibilities)

• Manage the first day paperwork for new hires including benefits and legal compliance.

• Oversees the onboarding process for all employees.

• Works to ensure that the firm's HRIS is up to date.

• Organizes health insurance renewals on an annual basis.

• Management of the firm’s 401(k) plan.

• Spend time each year prior to the open enrollment in evaluating the market for what benefits other firms offer to ensure the firm can remain a competitive workplace.

• Tracks and works with owners and employees on continuing education and career development.

• Be the focal point of the firm’s efforts in recruiting new talent by assisting owners and managers in attracting and retaining key employees.

• Conducts exit interviews for employees leaving the firm.

• Involved with the firm’s safety committee.

• Work closely with the ownership team and provide regular updates regarding emerging or potential employee issues as well as other developments related to

human capital.

(Job Requirements)

Must reside in WA as this role is Onsite in Federal Way, WA

  • Is active in the local SHRM chapter ( non-negotiable ); please indicate on resume.

  • AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) industry experience (non-negotiable).

  • 3-5 years of experience as HR.

  • Understanding of Open Enrollment/Employee benefits packets and restructures.

  • Ability to handle insurance issues or open cases.

  • Flexibility to support receptionist / administrative duties, as this position will be a 24 hours a week that will be spent handling HR functions and the other 16 hours that will be handling receptionist duties.

Compensation is tied to the Colorado and Washington markets for jobs performed in Colorado and Washington. Other locations may be subject to variances based on location-related factors.
