Robert Half Staff Accountant in Federal Way, Washington

This company is located in the Federal Way, Washington region and is offering a dynamic, mulit-faceted long-term contract / temporary opportunity where effort is rewarded. Responsibilities held by the Staff Accountant include the preparation of monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. A very involved position, this role produces Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. During the monthly close, you'll also be charged with various aspects of internal reporting. You will also communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, play an active role in compliance, and review schedules for the reporting processes.

Major responsibilities

  • Support fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

  • Be responsible for analysis of income statements and balance sheets and communicate findings to management

  • Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed

  • Be responsible for account reconciliations including prepaid expenses, payroll, and other assignments

  • Maintain monthly payment schedules

  • Participate in various department-wide initiatives

  • Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

  • Partake in annual closing processes

  • Commentate on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner

  • Carry out month end close, journal entries, without supervision Requirements - Competent with spreadsheets and databases

  • ERP system experience

  • Notable analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Recent and relevant accounting experience

  • Practical knowledge of Financial Statement

  • General familiarity with auditing

  • Knowledge of Excel Formulas

  • Well-founded grasp of Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • General ledger experience

  • Strong familiarity with account reconciliation

  • Dynamics experience desired

  • Month end closings experience

  • Quality experience with financial statement preparation

  • Proven knowledge of Accounts Payable (AP)

  • Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

  • Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines

  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

  • Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficient with spreadsheets and databases

  • Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment

  • Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
