Primary Purpose of Position:
The Sr. Maintenance Technician will service, repair, and maintain manufacturing equipment. The Sr. Maintenance Technician is expected to understand the needs of the manufacturing team and collaborate with them to achieve success. The Sr. Maintenance Technician will foster knowledge growth within the Maintenance Team.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Performs monthly preventative maintenance as directed by Supervisor. Performs repairs and general maintenance in all areas of manufacturing plant. Aids in upkeep of parts and supplies inventory.
Observes plant safety rules. Helps to identify and eliminate any safety hazard or concern. Assists in monitoring of quality of work output and maintenance procedures.
Cooperates with Supervisor in completing jobs in the most time and cost effective manner. Cooperates with other department supervisor personnel to expedite the repairs of down equipment.
Assists in conducting operations so as to meet established cost standards for use of materials, supplies and equipment. Follows instructions in the most efficient use of tools, machines and materials.
Maintains a neat and orderly working area and assists other departments in the cleanliness and organization of working areas when projects overlap other department areas.
Responsible for reporting any problems or concerns to their direct Supervisor. To maintain good working relations with all other employees. Strives to have no conflicts with other department employees.
Exemplifies teamwork; ensuring success or organizational goals and metrics.
Encouraged to bring any ideas to light for possible usage in factory functions.
Actively engages in the execution of key projects that could include equipment install, line re-design, kaizen driven improvements, and other initiatives as directed.
Poses no direct threat to the health or safety of himself/herself, or others, or to property. Defined as a significant risk of substantial harm that cannot be eliminated or reduced to an acceptable level by reasonable accommodation.
Requires regular attendance to perform essential element as contained herein between the assigned start and end times for work.
Performs such individual assignments as management may direct.
Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- High School Diploma or GED
Experience/Knowledge
Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in machine repair and mechanical troubleshooting.
Safety first approach, following all safety rules and guidelines.
Knowledge and aptitude to troubleshoot and repair manufacturing equipment.
Experience with preventative maintenance programs.
Demonstrate company values of integrity, teamwork, ownership, leadership, and a passion for winning.
Preferred Experience/Qualifications:
Related Technical Degree.
Licensing in Electrical, Welding or related field.
Miscellaneous Maintenance/Mechanical/Electronics trade school.
Journeyman Electrician a plus.
Experience with LEAN application, including 5S and SMED principles, is a plus.
Experience working within a TPM program a plus.
Technical Role Competencies:
Understanding of mechanical workings of a variety of production equipment.
Ability to repair and install machinery.
Ability to prioritize projects.
Flexibility to deal with interruptions and reprioritize as needed.
Ability to analyze problems and make independent judgment, making recommendations for corrective action or resolution.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
Standing and walking approximately 90 (ninety) percent of work time.
Ability to work overtime or occasionally on weekends with short notice.
Willingness to work all/any shifts.
Typical plant/manufacturing environment with concrete floors and moving equipment.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
