Hunterdon Health Care System Patient Care Technician in Flemington, New Jersey
Position Summary
Performs patient care assistant responsibilities for patients as part of the nursing team. Performs collection of blood specimens and records electrical impulses of the heart as ordered by a physician. Assists with general office/clerical functions on nursing units.
Primary Position Responsibilities
Assistance with total patient care under the direction of the RN
Promotes Patient Safety
Promotes and supports an organized work environment
Preforms collection of blood specimens and EKG’s as ordered by the physician
Preforms general office/clerical functions on the nursing units
Other Duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Years of Experience (Amount, Type and Variation):
Required:
Previous hospital experience as a nursing assistant, EMT or physician office patient care experience.
Preferred:
Phlebotomy experience preferred.
License, Registry or Certification:
Required:
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) required, prior experience as a nursing assistant in an acute care setting or EMT experience required. CPR certification is required. Crisis prevention Training (CPI) is required and must be renewed annually. If not certified upon hire must obtain certification within 6 months. CPI Course will be provided by Hunterdon.
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:
Required:
Normal basic patient care equipment, wheelchairs and stretchers. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
