Hemphill Construction Company, Inc. Pipelining Inversion Operator in Florence, Mississippi

General Summary of the Position:

Drive and operate a boiler or steam truck as required in the performance of trenchless CIPP pipeline rehabilitation projects. Ensures appropriate service and maintenance of truck and assigned equipment. May assist other craft workers.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in heavy construction projects.

  • Drives boiler or steam truck to and from the job site.

  • Operates boiler or steam truck to install CIPP into existing pipeline system.

  • Reads and monitors gauges to maintain appropriate temperatures.

  • Loads and unloads materials, tools, and equipment onto from trucks.

  • Maintains a clean job site and keeps the truck clean and maintained at all times.

  • Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Bring problems to the attention of the Foreman, Superintendent or Safety Director.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in heavy construction work.

  • Knowledge of boiler or steam trucks required.

  • Knowledge of applicable safety precautions.

  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.

  • Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, sit and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.

  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing as required.

  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.

Required Education, Training and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.

  • Valid appropriate state driver’s license; Class B CDL with tanker, hazmat & air brake endorsements required.

  • Willingness and ability to perform manual work following verbal and written instructions.

Work Environment:

  • Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.

  • Will work with equipment that maintains high temperatures and requires climbing up to 25’ above ground.

  • Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue and to effectively jump, sprint or throw an object.

  • Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.

  • Noise level is generally loud.

  • Must be able to quickly move arms and legs.

  • Excellent stamina is required.
