WestRock Company Specialist, Safety in Florence, South Carolina
The Safety Specialist provides support and leadership to the Florence Mill, to reduce the frequency and severity of occupational injuries and illnesses and to ensure sustainable compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
The opportunity:
The Safety Specialist has primary responsibility for assisting the Safety Manager and supporting Mill operations as needed. The Safety Specialist will report to the Safety Manager.
How you will impact WestRock:
Administers and models safety in his/her area of responsibility; participates in and supports the safety programs for the Mill; ensures compliance with all applicable OSHA and mill safety rules.
Leads culture change towards an injury-free facility through leadership, increased employee engagement, effective training and coaching, on-the floor interactions, and rule compliance.
Identifies safety needs for the mill; gathers technical data, cost, or other relevant information; makes verbal and written reports/recommendations to senior management.
Fully focused and engaged in all aspects of designated responsibility
Provides guidance to ensure compliance with all safety policies
Provides updates on safety items
Assists with the development and implementation of safety topics including but not limited to lockout, ergonomics, machine guarding, hazard communication and site security
Maintains frequent communication with the Safety Manager to provide technical resource guidance and to ensure consistent implementation of safety process tools that support WestRock\u2019s strategic safety plans and objectives
What you need to succeed:
Bachelor\u2019s degree in safety or related field
Good written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs
Proficient with OSHA Standards
Must pass site required background check, physical, and drug screen
