Washington State Patrol Community Engagement Liaison in forks, Washington

The incumbent shall be located within District 8, which serves Clallam, Grays Harbor, Jefferson, Kitsap, Mason, Pacific, and Wahkiakum Counties.

Duties

The objective of this position is to initiate, build, and maintain relationships with diverse communities listening to the needs and concerns enhancing trust, increasing awareness about our procedures, helping in crime prevention and providing localized solutions, while also assisting in recruiting from those communities. Our new teammate will be able to:

  • Initiate relationships with underserved and diverse groups in their assigned district.
  • Organize and prioritize objectives and unit work to manage multiple tasks and/or projects with minimal supervision.
  • Make recommendations to supervisor and district leadership on community engagement issues, priorities, and other process improvements to community engagement strategy.
  • Identify community issues/barriers and recommend system improvements and assist in designing solutions in consultation with WSP leaders and their Unit Supervisor.
  • Create monthly status reports for leadership.
  • Attend community events and forums and follow up with stakeholders for the purpose of building intentional relationships as it relates to community engagement.
  • Plan, manage, execute, track and report community engagement activities/events of the assigned district in accordance with the Community Engagement Plan of the CEU.
  • Lead efforts to create events that engage underserved communities. 
  • Assist in development and establishment of procedures and activities for the CEU.
  • Conduct focus groups and/or surveys with community members. 
  • Conduct research and analyze data to identify program needs; create detailed action plan to bridge gaps. 
  • Utilize a tracking tool to compile outreach activities.
  • Serve as an independent liaison between district staff and local communities.
  • Independently represent WSP in community meetings and events.
  • Identify communication opportunities with underserved communities and facilitate ongoing opportunities for engagement. 
  • Understand the cultural needs of the population served and communicate it with WSP leaders.

Telework: This is not a full-time telework position. The incumbent may be eligible to telework up to two days per week after the initial 6 month training period is complete.  Work Location: The office duty station will be the nearest district office to the incumbent's home address. Districts 8 i
