Raw Material and Supplier Quality Specialist

NATURE & SCOPE

The Raw Material and Supplier Quality Specialist position is responsible for supporting the Raw Material Qualification and Supplier Approval processes for H&W sites in NA. For Raw Material Qualification, this could include maintaining current documentation from suppliers, documentation review, performing hazard analyses, and creating specifications. For Supplier Approval, this does include the scheduling, conducting, reporting, and resulting action item closure for supplier and contract manufacturer audits, review of supplier questionnaires and food safety certificates, and maintenance of the approved Supplier list for ADM H&W NA facilities.

Raw Material Qualification

  • Review raw material documentation for suitability in dietary supplement products

  • Perform or assist in completion of raw material hazard analyses

  • Create or assist in creation of specifications and result reports

  • Drive continuous improvement and best practice sharing for internal Deerland facilities.

External Audits

  • Professionally represent Deerland as assigned on quality matters with vendors and customers.

  • Interface with facilities to schedule and conduct quality and food safety audits of internal plants and warehouses, utilizing technology and global ADM resources wherever possible.

  • Prepare written analysis for vendors setting forth scope of audits, observations, assessment and recommendation.

  • Execute appropriate inspection criteria, to determine degree of compliance with necessary requirements.

  • Clearly and accurately document all observations and corrective actions and initiate enforcement action where warranted.

  • Clearly and concisely capture defensible audit findings to provide unambiguous actionables.

  • Follow up on audit findings and observations and track CAPAs to closure.

  • Communicate with facility leadership teams throughout all phases of the audit process.

  • Determine the risk level and approval status of Deerland suppliers and contract manufacturers.

  • Oversee the supplier management and monitoring activities and update and maintain the Approved Supplier list.

Other

  • Generate monthly metrics on audit status and related CAPAs.

  • Perform special projects and other responsibilities as needed.

Education

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Biology, or equivalent.

Experience

  • 3+ years’ work experience in CFR 111 or 117 complaint facility in Quality or Supply Chain

  • Preferred: Experience in auditing

Specific skills

  • PCQI Certified or willing to attain

  • Strong knowledge of current quality systems requirements and implementation techniques.

  • Superior communication and analytical skills plus demonstrated skills to handle a variety of assignments simultaneously.

  • Ability to travel, may include international.

  • Customer-advocate to insure on time task completion.

  • Requires excellent written and verbal communications.

  • Ability to work successfully in a cross functional matrix. Sales, Marketing, Finance, Quality etc.

  • Results driven, strong work ethic.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

This position can be located in Forsyth, MO or Kennesaw, GA.
