U.S. Army Sustainment Command Lead Transportation Assistant (Inspector) in Fort Bliss, Texas

About the Position: To serve as a Lead Transportation Assistant (Inspector) with the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, 407th Army Field Support Battalion located at Fort Bliss, Texas. Responsibilities Serves as leader of transportation assistants engaged in personal property and passenger travel functions. Distributes work based on priorities, difficulty, requirements of assignments, and capabilities of employees. Assists the Supervisory Transportation Specialist in the Personal Property Processing Office (PPPO) with work requirements and personnel needs. Coordinates travel arrangements through contacts (person to-person, facsimile mail, electronic messages, or telephone). Monitors passenger reservations with the contract travel office to ensure they are the least costly fare booked in accordance with the government contract. Performs quality assurance functions in the inspection of personal property shipments and local warehouses. Provides technical and administrative support to employees engaged in performing complex clerical work related to processing personal property shipments, arranging travel for organization personnel. Estimate and/or compute actual excess charges on personal property shipments. Reports to supervisor deficiencies, workload data reports and expected time of completion of work. Interprets new or changed laws and regulations and provides training on the application of such laws and regulations. Reconciles a Central Billing Account. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience in the Federal service which includes 1) assisting with transportation of personal property and passenger travel; 2) providing technical and administrative support in performing complex clerical work related to processing personal property shipments; 3) arranging official travel for personnel within the organization; and 4) performing quality assurance functions in the inspection of personal property shipments and local warehouses. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and Management Cost Estimation and Analysis Customer Service (Clerical/Technical) Transportation Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required.
