The Histology Technician will be responsible for performing histology tasks for nonclinical studies, including tissue trimming, processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, and slide quality control assessment. The histology laboratory performs paraffin and plastic resin embedding procedures and the histology technician will be involved in the conduct of both media types, as needed, at the directive of the laboratory manager.

Responsibilities

Proficient in the processing of tissue samples according to laboratory protocols Proficient in the skill of embedding tissue into blocks Proficient in microtomy and able to generate quality tissue sections Accurately mount tissue specimens onto slides Examine blocks and or slides to identify anatomical landmarks macroscopically or microscopically to ensure tissue preparation meets laboratory requirements Document and maintain study records to comply with appropriate regulatory requirements Review and understand data associated with the study Perform other duties as assigned Demonstrate understanding of SOPs and Good Laboratory Practice regulations (21 CFR, Part 58) as these relate to study-specific services provided, this job description, and general facility operations Demonstrate proficiency in the use of relevant computer systems, specifically Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook Document all GLP and process training Provide a CV and ensure that training file is kept current Document all study and laboratory activities as required for compliance and to maintain study data files and specimens in an organized and confidential fashion

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements High School Diploma or GED One year of relevant industry experience Preferred Qualifications Certified Histology Technician HT or HTL(ASCP), ASCP board certified eligible Lab and GLP experience Critical Success Factors Able to read and interpret test results and instrument specifications Follow SOPs and other applicable laboratory or company procedures Interact with clients, other employees, and the community in a professional manner Effective organizational, written, and oral communication skills Ability to adhere to all company policies, safety regulations and procedures Maintain confidential information Support and participate in other company initiatives as directed Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English Demonstrate Inotiv Core Values and adhere to Code of Conduct Working Conditions & Physical Requirements Work is normally performed in a typical interior office or laboratory environment Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer The noise level is usually moderate Requires moderate physical activity with frequent talking, standing, walking and repetitive movement of hands and fingers, reaching and lifting 10 -50 pounds. Use of PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) when required (i.e., able to wear latex or nitrile gloves, dust mask or respirator, and safety glasses as required) This position will frequently be involved with sharp, solvents, irritants, acids, bases, and other hazardous chemicals, flammable materials, and biohazards. Due to exposure to hazardous biological material (which may include HPB positive specimens), immunization to Hepatitis B and/or other diseases may be a requirement. *This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person's relevant experience and/or education level. This is a nonexempt role paying $24.00 - $30.50/hr based on experience and qualifications
