U.S. Army Medical Command Paramedic in Fort Eisenhower, Georgia

Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located with the Deputy Commander for Medical Services, Emergency Medicine, Ambulance section of DWIGHT D Eisenhower Army Medical Center Located at Fort Eisenhower, Georgia. Responsibilities Determine the shortest and safest route to the incident location while gathering pertinent data prior to arrival. Conduct both a complete site survey for hazardous conditions and a physical examination of the patient in order to determine the nature, extent, and seriousness of the patient's condition. Provide appropriate treatment from a variety of prescribed protocols for patients. Prioritize care for incidents that involve more than one patient. Maintain radio and telephone communications with designated installation health facilities and Emergency Operations Center. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Licensure/Certification: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) responding to accidents or emergencies involving injuries and/or illnesses; (2) conducting examinations to obtain patient vital signs and initiating intravenous (IV) therapy; AND (3) operating a patient transport vehicle. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Licensure/Certification: Current certification with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) as a Paramedic. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross; AND Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification -American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs maybe authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is in the Government interest. Advanced-in-hire rate may be authorized. Relocation Incentive may be authorized. Advanced Leave Accrual may be authorized. Incumbent may be required to perform call duties; work overtime to include weekends and federal holidays, out of cycle, or unscheduled training or on an emergency basis. The work will require the incumbent to work evenings/nights, rotating shifts, extended hours or other schedules common to hospital operations. Incumbent must possess and maintain certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Incumbent must possess and maintain certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
