Job Summary and Qualifications

The Senior Imaging Systems Administrator serves as a key onsite and geographical zone or market IT resource for implementation and support of medical imaging applications at a facility. Primary responsibilities include performing as the project lead for implementing medical imaging systems, administering and supporting Radiology PACS, interfaces, and related technologies (e.g., voice recognition), supporting outpatient medical imaging, and providing second level support as a local medical imaging subject matter expert to resolve incidents or fulfill requests received from the division Service Desk or other division or facility service resources. This position ensures continuity and alignment of the division’s radiology imaging systems and services direction and plans with HCA’s corporate IT&S strategies, division IT&S strategic plans, and facility needs.

Primary responsibilities include serving as the radiology imaging applications leader for a geographical zone, implementing and monitoring the Radiology applications, technology, and support processes, and coordinating consistent support of related technologies. This individual also assists in resolving highly complex issues regarding Radiology applications, coordinates market-wide testing and implementation of software releases, assists in developing strategies for training and tools across the market, and champions standardization, utilization, optimization and use of best practices in Radiology. The Senior Imaging Systems Administrator ensures system design, interface functionality, and clinical processes are coordinated and functioning effectively within the market. This individual performs application maintenance and testing of application upgrades and fixes.

The Senior Imaging Systems Administrator provides input to division policies and procedures, training, and best practices for use within the market, and assists in implementing division standardization, utilization, integration and optimization plans for medical imaging applications and related technologies within a market. The Senior Imaging Systems Administrator may be dedicated to a specific facility as well as oversee operations across a geographic zone and provide imaging leadership to multiple facilities.

Requires subject matter knowledge in medical imaging applications and staying abreast of latest medical imaging application developments to ensure facility and zone service levels proactively meet or exceed corporate and division requirements and service level agreements with key stakeholders and vendors. This position requires strong technical skills, people skills, personal drive, and the ability to see strategy through to execution in a matrix reporting environment. Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills are also required.

• Establishes goals and priorities in the overall management of current and planned Radiology applications, services, and related technologies at the facility and zone based region.

• Coordinates the assignment of resources to Radiology projects, operations, & incidents.

• Administers and supports PACS, medical imaging interfaces, and related technologies (e.g., voice recognition).

• Provides second level support as a local medical imaging subject matter expert to resolve incidents or fulfill requests received from the division Service Desk or other division or facility service resources; provides status on user issues.

• Leads analysis of organizational needs for development and implementation of Radiology applications; interfaces with users to ensure that Radiology applications are developed which meet their business needs and specifications

• Serves as a key division resource for implementation and support of medical imaging applications at facilities within the division.

• Participates in the planning and implementation of medical imaging applications.

• Works with Physician Support Coordinators as a subject matter expert on medical imaging applications for Physicians and their offices, to ensure physicians can access images at hospitals, offices and homes.

• Coordinates and manages vendor support for medical imaging solutions.

• Promotes medical imaging application security and confidentiality and helps ensure compliance.

• Provides user support and system maintenance for advanced clinical applications for all division hospitals.

• Conducts problem analyses and timely and accurate resolution for complex issues and requests escalated from the division Service Desk or other division or facility service resources regarding advanced clinical applications within their specialty area(s).

• Participates in root cause analysis as trends in issues in specialty area(s) are identified.

• Coordinates zone-wide testing for advanced clinical applications within their specialty area(s); assists in interpretation of test plans and in troubleshooting.

• Works with Education Specialist to design and develop base education/training materials in clinical application specialty area(s) to support staff training and continued education.

• Provides training to facility clinical analysts, super users (train the trainer), and other Imaging Systems Administrators on advanced clinical applications.

• Actively supports and promotes systems standardization, utilization, and best practices.

• Aggregates data within the market or zone for division-level reports.

• Participates with peers in enterprise communities to identify and evaluate best practices, packaging and promoting cross-division best practice efforts.

• Identifies, evaluates, designs, and packages division best practices, policies and procedures for clinical application implementation and use.

• Works with facilities within the zone to manage/facilitate implementation of standards, best practices, policies, procedures, and utilization plans within a specialty area.

• Participates in on-call rotations within the market or zone.

• Adheres to Code of Conduct and Mission & Value Statement.

• Participate in special projects as needed and performs other duties as assigned

What qualifications you will need:

Required: • Mature understanding of current and emerging technologies, specific to Radiology applications

• Mature understanding of Radiology imaging support processes and workflow

• Understands pertinent JCAHO, MQSA, HIPAA and ACR guidelines

• Demonstrated ability to establish and build strong relationships across a broad range of personality types

EDUCATION • Bachelor’s degree preferred

EXPERIENCE • Three to five years of experience administering clinical systems in a radiological imaging environment or other relevant clinical applications support

• One year experience in budgeting, creating and maintaining policies, and extensive reporting

• Experience in large, complex organization or corporate structured environment

• Experience in team leadership and direct supervision

• Experience creating and leading communications with direct reports, senior leaders, business partners, and vendors to ensure collaboration, efficiency, and service excellence
