Job Description

Under general supervision, has sufficient understanding and experience to operate in a broad range of moderate to difficult professional case work involving incarcerated individuals at the Iowa State Penitentiary. Provides individual case management and group facilitation. Participates in disciplinary, classification, and pre-parole classification committee meetings. Recommends individuals for release based on behavior and attitude. Communicates and documents observations of offenders to ensure effective case management and consistent application of client change principles.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Experience equal to four years of full-time work providing individual and group guidance and related counseling services in the areas of social, behavioral, educational, vocational and related program planning;

OR

an equivalent combination of experience and education substituting thirty semester hours (or the equivalent) of post high school coursework for each year of the required work experience to a maximum substitution of four years.

Additional Qualification Requirements

Designated positions in this job class require applicants to obtain the required Commercial Drivers License within a period of time as determined by the appointing authority at the time of hire.
