Description
Become a key member of the Fleet Department and help ensure vehicles operate at their best! The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the functionality and reliability of the vehicles, conducting diagnostic tests, and replacing vehicle parts as needed. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in vehicle mechanics, excellent troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to maintaining high safety standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing heavy equipment such as excavators, wheel loaders, forklifts, heavy-duty field tractors, mowers, maintenance equipment, sweeper trucks, roll-off trucks, semi-road tractors, flatbed, dump and walking floor trailers, among other types of equipment.
Responsibilities also encompass complete preventive maintenance tasks such as oil and lube changes, brake repairs, tune-ups, and inspections of electrical, cooling, and drive systems.
This includes working on gasoline and diesel engines, brake systems, drive trains, suspension, and steering, as well as electrical and electronic systems, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and hydraulic systems.
The incumbent will troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair various systems in accordance with industry-standard repair times and practices.
The position operates under the general supervision of the fleet supervisor, with performance evaluated through regular meetings and the effectiveness of completed work.
The role requires processing work orders, prioritizing repairs, and managing scheduled workloads efficiently
Education, Experience, Licensing
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to High School graduation or GED equivalent and two years experience in mechanical repairs on light-duty trucks and equipment, heavy-duty trucks, or heavy equipment. (i.e., maintenance and repair of diesel and gasoline-powered equipment and vehicles, performing in-depth mechanical repairs to heavy vehicles).
Possession of a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record is required.
Supplemental Information
Considerable knowledge of tools, equipment, practices, and methods used to repair and replace gas and diesel engines.
Ability to assist in the training and guidance of entry-level technicians.
Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Experience in utilizing diagnostic software programs and equipment.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM
