ABF Freight Project Engineer in Fort Smith, Arkansas

Currently, we are looking for a Project Engineer to join the ABF Freight team. As a Project Engineer you will create innovative solutions to business problems using mathematical modeling, engineering principals, Lean Six Sigma, programming, business knowledge, or other advanced skills. You will also coordinate, plan, execute, and assess projects and processes in support of various departments or business units within deadlines, budgets and resource constraints. Along with, acquiring team resources and coordinating team efforts in order to deliver results on projects/processes that are part of the strategic plan for ArcBest Corporation and its subsidiaries. You will also provide clear and concise project definition, scope, action plans, and communication. Develop solutions designed to meet requirements of various departments, focusing on those requiring engineering project expertise, while ensuring quality throughout processes.

Your responsibilities may include the following:

  • Support ArcBest Corporation and its subsidiaries on technical and strategic initiatives

  • Direct and manage project development from beginning to end, not to exclude full risk assessment and recommendations for adjustment of priorities as needed

  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with Senior Leadership

  • Develop formal project plans, resources, proposals, budgetary proposals, project charters, and communications, as assigned

  • Build, develop, and grow all business relationships vital to the success of project management and process improvement

  • Provide resource estimates to key stakeholders including personnel, budgetary, and technology investments

  • Use provided tools to plan and track milestones, dependencies, timelines, deliverables, and progress updates, and perform financial evaluations on projects/services

  • Clearly define and manage project success metrics on an on-going basis even after the completion of projects

  • Coach, mentor, motivate, and supervise project team members to ensure quality, positive actions, and accountability, and identify and resolve issues and conflict within the team

  • Meet and communicate with Senior Leadership and external customers to provide updates, seek direction, give presentations, communicate success barriers, and showcase project results

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, preferred

  • Experience in Logistics, Operations, Sales, Transportation, Pricing, and/or other related field, preferred

  • Proven presentation abilities to clearly and concisely articulate difficult plans, projects and their results both internally and externally

  • Proven leadership, interpersonal skills, and team-work effectiveness

  • Ability to diffuse tension, motivate others, and be very perceptive

  • Ability to work independently, offer direct and factually based recommendations, conform easily based on shifting priorities, and take an unbiased approach to work

  • Advanced analytical, critical thinking, negotiating, managerial, organizational, decision-making, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills

  • Proficient in entire suite of Microsoft programs, and able to learn new systems quickly

  • Knowledge of and experience with databases, systems, and software

  • Understanding of organization, behavior, business practices, and inter-connectivity within ArcBest Corporation and its subsidiaries.

  • Ability to travel, as needed

  • Must be detail oriented and enjoy a fast paced, multi-tasking, customer service minded environment

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications and organizational skills

  • Must display sense of urgency, ability to work under pressure, with attention to detail.
