Do it Best Corp. Credit Supervisor in Fort Wayne, Indiana

Credit Supervisor Level: Salaried Division / Department: Finance Reports to: Treasurer Travel: Occasional (Member stores, Markets, & Conferences) About the role: The Credit Supervisor is responsible for managing all activities related to credit management and accounts receivable collection for all domestic and international accounts. This individual will be responsible for researching and performing due diligence for new members, and member projects requiring capital in the form of preference shares and loans, and present to the committee to make final approval. Also, this position will review for credit worthiness member projects related to Retail Performance and Merchandising Essential programs. Responsibilities:

  • Lead and direct credit staff to effectively manage and control domestic and international past due accounts to minimize bad debt expense

  • Develop, implement, and regularly review credit policies and procedures to ensure best practices are in place and provide ongoing support and training to Credit Staff.

  • Assist and support staff in coordinating with Sales and Business Development with financial review and questions related to prospects, members, and related projects

  • Review and provide credit decision for project requests related to Retail Programs, (i.e. Retail Plus, Retail Start, Design, etc.)

  • Assist and manage activities with corporate counsel and outside counsel related to accounts that have been referred for legal action

  • Determine accounts to be written off as bad debt at the end of each fiscal year

  • Monitor and document bad debt recoveries each fiscal year

  • Calculate adjustments to the Bad Debt Reserve Account at the end of each fiscal year

  • Responsible for all underwriting activity related to our various loan programs, including loans funded in house or facilitated through our commercial lending partner

  • Ensure credit policies are up to date and consistently practiced

Education and Experience: Minimum

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance or accounting or equivalent experience in trade credit management or commercial lending (minimum 7 years).

  • Experience should include managing portfolios of $100mm plus

  • Minimum 5 years prior trade credit management or commercial lending

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite

Desired

Preferably minimum 5 years prior credit management experience in Hardware, Lumber, and/or Building Materials industry

  • Proficient in Moody’s Risk Analyst

  • Experience with Dun and Bradstreet

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong financial analysis and underwriting skills
