Purdue University Fort Wayne is currently seeking a full-time, 2nd shift Facility Systems Technician in our Operations and Maintenance department. This position performs routine maintenance duties throughout the facilities.

The hourly wage for this position is $19.89 and the schedule is Mon - Fri 2:30p-10:30p with rotating weekends.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Respond to critical work orders that are not able to be completed while buildings are occupied. Diagnose problems and perform repairs on ventilating units including motors, fans, belts, etc. that would include push, pull, lift, carry, move 50 to 80 pounds occasionally.
  • Work closely with the Indoor Air Quality Technician and the Energy and Utilities Operator. Monitor temperatures, pressures, flow rates and assist in logging equipment recordings. Monitor and control the BAS system. Low level programming of the BAS system.
  • Repair and replace plumbing fixtures including faucets, etc.
  • Diagnose, repair, replace and install lighting fixtures, bulbs, and support system,etc.
  • Repair, lubricate and adjust door hardware, hinges, closures, etc.
  • Reset breakers, replace fuses and motor fans, etc.
  • Assist outside contractors in locating and accessing facilities, equipment, etc. Supervise outside vendors when on-site.
  • Identify and diagnose problems with system wide electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems that may require work at various heights on ladders, bucket trucks, etc.
  • Attend training to keep current with changing technology advances.

Required Qualifications:

  • A High School Diploma or GED.
  • 3 years of experience in general building maintenance.
  • Must have good mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be able to move, lift, carry, push and pull 50 to 80 pounds occasionally.
  • Able to work at various heights on ladders, bucket trucks, etc.
  • Must have a valid drivers license and remain in compliance with the Purdue University Motor Vehicle Records policy.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in commercial or industrial maintenance.
