LTL Transportation Specialist

Level: Pay Class 4

Division: Logistics

Reports to: Inbound Operations Manager

Travel: Minimal, at the needs of the business

This position leads and administers our LTL transportation compliance program enforcing all Do it Best LTL standards responsible for defining, guiding, and applying all item NMFC and class information. Leads communication, follow-up, and analytics regarding LTL compliance. The handling of transportation disputes from our vendors related to LTL invoicing via our Transportation Management Freight Audit and Pay, and claims processing via EZClaim software. Accountable for review, reasoning, response, and resolution to all inquiries or issues regarding LTL transportation and provides support for all other transportation modes. The position also provides compliance support to EDI issues regarding applicable EDI transactions, supports LTL internal and external quote inquiries, and is accountable for reviewing and subsequently updating applicable Shipping and Marking standards related to LTL Transportation.

Responsibilities:

  • Administers all changes required by the National Motor Freight Class (NMFC) regarding items inventoried by Do it Best Corp.

  • Reviews, resolves, and responds to inquiries related to LTL transportation compliance.

  • Administers and enforces transportation-related vendor compliance deductions associated with the Do it Best Shipping and Marking Standards.

  • Supports applicable carrier contract setups and reviews.

  • Supports Freight Audit and Payment billing processes and reviews when applicable and all supporting communication.

  • Provides monthly analytics support regarding LTL industry trends.

  • Administers all claims, supporting entries, updates, communication, follow-up, and analytics via EZClaim.

  • Provides a clear definition of LTL shipping with our vendor partners supporting the prevention of future issues.

  • Provides vendor compliance support and communication of reimbursement fees as needed when applicable.

  • Supports and provides LTL freight quotes as requested to Do it Best Members as well as our internal Merchandising Team.

  • Supports small parcel transportation supporting compliance communication as required by our Do it Best Shipping and Marking Standards.

  • Supports LTL claims processing and follow-up as needed to ensure recoup of any lost funds timely and accurately.

Education and Experience:

Minimum

  • High School/GED equivalent

  • Extensive LTL Transportation Knowledge Base and Experience

  • Transportation Management System (TMS) experience

  • Proficiency in all Google Applications

  • Financial / Accounting knowledge

  • Critical Thinking / Problem Solving / Decision Maker

    Desired

  • Minimum 2-year associate degree in Business, Logistics, or related field of study.

  • Technical School Education - Transportation Related

  • 3-5 years experience in Logistics / LTL Transportation / Supply Chain

  • Working knowledge of Transportation applications
