ITW Assembler Lead in Fort Worth, Texas

SUMMARY

Entry level position with responsibly for training and assisting employees in assigned department. Performs work as assistant to supervisor of department with decision making authority in the production processes of the specific department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follows all company safety rules and policies.

  • Assists supervisor in monitoring and maintaining good employee safety practices

  • Reports to, and communicates directly with, departmental supervisor, all other production supervisors, Engineering, and Quality Assurance departments to ensure production flows smoothly through the facility.

  • May attend safety committee rotation as requested by production supervisor.

  • Trains and assists department employees in performance of their assigned job duties.

  • Controls inventory needs of the department by ensuring departmental employees have necessary parts to perform their assigned duties. Ensures that departmental employees adhere to schedule and production rates by monitoring their activities, parts supply/shortages, and takes necessary action to procure needed items so that production will not be delayed. Assigns and changes work assignments as needed by production schedule.

  • May be required to schedule parts to appropriate equipment.

  • May complete final quality check of specific unit prior to lab testing and direct the work required if the unit does not meet standards. Reviews job travelers prior to, during and at end of departmental work on the unit.

  • Completes and submits required production report information as required.

  • Reports to supervisor any unusual conditions regarding employees or their work activities.

  • Inspects products and processes while performing job duties to ensure all work done meets or exceeds standards of the company’s quality program.

  • May perform same duties as an assembler.

  • Works cooperatively and congenially with co-workers to achieve cohesive and productive work processes and work environment.

  • Performs other duties as requested by direct supervisor or other management personnel

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

  • Possess a current forklift license.

  • Possess knowledge of, and capable of performing, all job duties in specific department.

  • Ability to use a variety of small hand tools and power tools.

  • Ability to read a tape measure and calipers.

  • Possess basic mechanical aptitude and ability.

  • Ability to read, understand and follow a wiring diagram and dimension drawings.

  • Ability to communicate clearly with co-workers and supervisor.

  • Ability to understand production and delivery schedules.

  • Possess basic computer skills.

  • 3+ years of assembly experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Attend work regularly and report promptly for duty on the days and at the times scheduled by the supervisor.

  • Schedule changes occur and should be handled in a productive manner

  • Working temperatures vary with seasonal changes and climate control is limited. The environment is one in which noise exists.

  • Sit on a forklift, stand, and/or walk for a combined minimum of eight (8) hours per day on a concrete surface.

  • Lift and carry components, tools, or other items weighing more than 35 pounds. Any item over 35 pounds, is to be done with assistance

  • May perform combination of physical movements to reach areas difficult to access including bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, twisting and rotation motions using head/neck, arms, wrists, waist, knees and arms while performing duties.

  • Pull and push up to 100 pounds.

  • Handle small hand tools and power tools. Handling may be done unilaterally (one-handed) or bilaterally (two-handed) depending on size and shape of object and task being performed.

  • Need corrected vision to be aware of surroundings and location of items needed and perform various other job duties.

  • Need corrected hearing to identify conditions in the environment (i.e. forklift horns, fire alarms).

  • Need mental alertness to identify, avoid, or resolve safety hazards.

  • Ability to communicate with supervisors and co-workers.

  • Ability to wear designated personal protective equipment for the work assignment (i.e. safety glasses, cut-resistant gloves, hearing protection, dust masks).

Hours of Work

Monday – Friday – 6:00am to 2:30pm and OT when required
