NBC Texas Today is looking for a creative lifestyle host to join its team in Dallas-Fort Worth, delivering engaging and entertaining programming to viewers. The host will integrate sales and product placements into the show, report on entertainment stories both in-house and in the field, generate content ideas, gather information, and prepare segments for presentation. Additionally, the host may participate in community events and station activities as a master of ceremonies or host when requested by the station.

Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Bring energy and creativity to the team, fostering a winning spirit.

  • Embrace new experiences and actively participate in featured activities.

  • Share insights and personal stories to foster audience connections.

  • Facilitate engaging field and in-studio interviews with guests.

  • Develop, write, shoot, and edit packages for the show.

  • Collaborate with producers and co-hosts to brainstorm engaging subjects that spark lively discussions.

  • Introduce contests and promotions to enhance audience participation.

  • Positively represent the show and station to grow subscribers and listeners.

  • Maintain personal and show social media accounts aligned with the brand.

  • Make appearances and travel for remote broadcasts and events.

  • Bring experience and confidence to live show presentations.

  • Minimum of five years of on-air hosting experience.

  • Excellent communicator skilled at engaging viewers, guests, and clients in a fun, unscripted lifestyle show environment.

  • Ability to ad-lib and improvise seamlessly in various on-air situations, even under intense deadline pressure.

  • Experience in commercial production and hosting sales-integrated content.

  • Proficient in using video camera equipment, including knowledge of lighting, framing, microphone placement, and audio monitoring.

  • Well-informed about current events, popular culture, and compelling topics making news in North Texas.

  • Familiarity with Adobe Suite.

  • Understanding of social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) and effective self-promotion strategies.

  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) in written and verbal communication preferred.

  • Strong on-air presence and voice, projecting a professional image.

  • In-depth knowledge of North Texas’ arts, culture, and lifestyle offerings.

  • Ability to develop story ideas, conduct research, and plan segments effectively.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills for engaging with staff at all levels.

  • Capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Comfortable interacting with talent, artists, and high-profile individuals.

  • Expertise in writing compelling teases.

  • Proven track record of achieving competitive ratings and ranking success.

  • Well-informed about current events, politics, and pop culture.

  • Strong public speaking and presentation abilities.

  • Excellent time management skills, with the capacity to prioritize, multitask, and meet shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or greater

  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States

  • The Host must be flexible pertaining to required wardrobe and on-air clothing as it may relate to seasons of the year, special occasions (e.g., Halloween, summer, etc.) and advertiser requirements. In addition, in the event of a wardrobe sponsorship, host will be required to wear the wardrobe provided by the sponsor.

  • Make-up and hair must be maintained by the host
