Associate Director, Program Manager – PDM Employee Experience (Project Management) - Foster City

Specific Responsibilities & Skills for the Position:

Reporting to the Head of Change Leadership, the Program Manager for People Experience will provide strategic planning, execution and evolution of culture-supporting programs including developing, executing and maintaining new and existing programs and approaches for our organizational culture that drive peak performance in alignment with Gilead and PDM ambitions and values. The role requires extensive collaboration with existing SMEs to not duplicate efforts but leverage existing resources and programs. Overall, the Change Leadership program portfolio includes a variety of topics that will flex in the amount of time they require as we progress toward our 2030 ambition and as the needs of the business evolve. As a critical piece of the health and potential success of the organization, our PDM culture will leverage all the greatness of our history with the innovation for our future state to ensure our collective success.

Essential Functions

The position will consist of the following main duties:

  • Be accountable for and manage related end-to-end programs and participate in interdependent processes related to our culture.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and update program approach and content, ensuring it aligns with organizational goals and objectives.

  • Partner within the Product and Portfolio Strategy team members, partners outside of PDM and other stakeholders to ensure the programs support the culture elements of our strategic plan and are in line with the prioritized portfolio of work at any given time. Coach and advise functional partners on deeper implementation of programs within their function.

  • Design, execute and maintain culture programs within PDM as assigned and prioritized based on business needs and organizational priorities.

  • Continuously improve programs, utilizing benchmarked approaches and technology use to maximize effectiveness and engagement.

  • Occasionally, facilitate programs elements in partnership with internal and external leaders and SMEs.

  • Participate in stakeholder meetings when culture topics are identified and discussed to continuously be aligned with the customer's business and voice and help prioritize functional vs PDM-wide culture support.

  • Starting with Gilead approaches and priorities, connect PDM culture programs to ensure a high degree of integration. Other approaches may include the Gilead leadership growth requirements and expectations, our PDM listening approach, our PDM recognition approach, and other end-to-end employee experience elements.

  • Ensure effective change leadership and change management approaches for programs are leveraged and any improvements to ensure readiness for growth and learning take place to realize the benefits of the programs and improvements.

  • Establish metrics and evaluation processes aligned with broader Gilead and PDM approach to assess program effectiveness with respect to sponsorship, process approach, and routine execution to make data-driven decisions to enhance program impact.

  • Stay informed of trends, research, and innovations in culture, applying proven practices and exploring new methodologies to keep PDM at the forefront as an employer of choice.

  • As needed, manage relationships with external vendors and consultants to support programs.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience and a BA/BS OR 8+ years of relevant experience and a MA/MS

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of designing and implementing successful large-scale, strategic culture programs in a fast-paced, matrixed and innovative environment

  • Strong strategic planning, execution and influencing skills and with the ability to translate business needs into effective program solutions

  • Excellent collaboration and partnership skills to work independently and lead/participate in cross functional teams

  • Strong organizational, program and project management, analytical, and evaluation skills

  • Continuous improvement and growth mindset with demonstrated ability to translate complex concepts into simple process flows

  • Facilitation and coaching skills

  • Exceptional communication and influence skills, capable of engaging and inspiring employees at all levels

  • Outstanding EQ and excellent stakeholder management

  • Effective verbal and written communications skills, with an ability to express complex concepts in business terms

The salary range for this position is: $191,335.00 - $247,610.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
