Job Purpose/overview

As part of the implementation of Citi’s transformation of CGME into an investment firm in Germany and as part of Citi’s Brexit strategy, this role is required to strengthen market risk management. The role will involve working closely with traders.

Focus will be on the implementation and management of a regulatory-compliant and robust market risk framework for the entity and meeting the needs of local regulators. Among other things, the role will be responsible for monitoring, reporting and escalating market risk to internal and external stakeholders and must ensure that CGME complies with appropriate Citi policies and procedures, industry best market risk management practices, and regulatory requirements always.

The role will form part of legal entity Market Risk team for the oversight of trading activities on CGME legal entity. The role will report directly to CGME Market risk head. The legal entity market risk manager will cover the overall trading activity booked on CGME mainly spread, interest rate and equity products..

Responsibilities:

  • Day to day responsibility for market risk management in CGME.

  • Monitoring exposures under the limit framework and ensure adherence to Citi’s market risk policy and regulatory requirements.

  • Close co-operation with other market risk managers responsible for products / desks or other legal entities.

  • Actively engaging with the traders/business to ensure proper governance over CGME’s market risk exposures.

  • Assist with the development of a sustainable solution for the market risk of EBA stress testing which aligns with internal and regulatory reporting.

  • Conduct analysis and assist in the preparation of market risk components of ICAAP, Risk Appetite Statements, Stress Testing and other ad-hoc regulatory or legal entity governance projects drawing in appropriate regional/global market risk resources as required.

  • Support CGME’s Market Risk team in evaluating legal vehicle market risk controls and framework for any new business or strategic initiatives.

  • Review CGME legal vehicle market risk positions in the context of limits, mandates and permitted product lists.

  • Escalate any issues, with appropriate suggested mitigations, to CGME Head of Market Risk without delay.

  • Assist with delivery of market risk reports/commentary to Risk Committees, regulators, and Senior Management.

  • Work closely with global risk management teams to ensure CGME legal vehicle risk issues are being identified and addressed.

  • Assist in ensuring that market risk component of relevant audits, inspections and reviews are completed successfully.

  • Participate in critical projects and ad-hoc requests as they arise.

  • Assist with the implementation of regulatory remediation's and ensuring legal entity regulatory requirements are met.

Qualifications:

  • Equity/commodities/XVA Product knowledge is an asset.

  • Relevant market risk experience in an international banking organization with a diverse product set is an asset.

  • Fluent in written and spoken English, French desirable.

  • Demonstrated years of relevant experience

  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel/VBA, Word, Power Point) and SQL

  • Programming and/or database management experience

  • Interaction with auditors and understanding of applicable best practice guidelines and regulations.

  • Up-to-date working knowledge of regulatory requirements and change, specifically those from Basel and European regulatory authorities (desirable

  • Bachelor’s/University degree, post-graduate education in Economic, Finance, Financial Risk Management, or other quantitative discipline preferred
