Job Description Summary

Responsibilities:

• Accountable for the contribution and execution of category strategies and supplier management activities for assigned categories including current year savings, contribution to 3-year savings pipeline and category value plans.

• Ensures supply of raw materials and services working collaboratively with Business, Functions and Procurement.

• Can serve as the primary leader during issue resolution or escalation point with team.

• Relationship management with preferred and conventional suppliers, primarily regional but may include global relationships.

• Collaboration with Supplier Facing team

• Coach and mentor team of 4-6 associates. Performance management and development activities.

Scope:

• This position contributes to the development of category strategies and ensures category strategies are executed primarily on a regional basis working closely with Director of Category Management, Sr. Category Manager and the Businesses and Functions.

• Supplier Management Strategies are developed and executed for preferred and conventional suppliers and enable category Business Requirements.

• Accountable to ensure proactive and reactive risk mitigation strategies are developed and executed for assigned categories and suppliers in collaboration with Director of Category Management

Sphere of Influence:

• The position reports to the Director of Procurement and plays a critical role in influencing the success of key performance metrics including; financial performance, value delivery and assurance of supply for material and services.

• The role also influences a broad network across organization and business to drive and align on strategy execution. Influence extends to peers, team members, sites, functions and key stakeholders.

• The target audience on interaction internally is typically at Manager and Director level but may include Vice President and BU President depending upon the situation.

Accountability:

• Is accountable for the contribution and implementation of a range of strategies across categories of spend and supply base for affected business, regions and functions to achieve in excess of 4% year-on-year return while maintaining BD’s supplier ethics and internal values.

• Accountable for effective supplier management strategies (preferred and conventional relationships) as well as assurance of supply

• Accountable to identify where master supply agreements and/or other contractual relationships are needed, and to ultimately reach contractual outcomes with our suppliers that will bring year-on-year value for BD

• Seeks continuous improvement opportunities across Procurement for assigned areas

• Performance is measured against successful delivery business, regions and functional financial objectives

• Improves BD's financial position through ability to execute and deliver cost savings, non-price value opportunities and risk mitigation.

Description

This position is accountable for the contribution and execution of category strategies and supplier management activities for assigned categories including current year savings, contribution to 3-year savings pipeline and category value plans. The candidate will ensure supply of raw materials and services working collaboratively with Business, Functions, and Procurement including gobal relationships. In this role, the candidate will serve as the primary leader during issue resolution or escalation pertaining to supplier management, and work closely with the Director of Category Management, Sr. Category Manager and the Businesses and Functions.

Other Responsibilities:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field

  • 10 years management experience

  • 10 years procurement category management experience
