Walk Laborer Overview
The Walk Laborer works with a team to keep high foot-traffic areas on the airfield safe and clear of ice/snow to allow continued airport operations. They will perform tasks that involve manual labor related to snow removal, such as shoveling, using a snowblower and spreading snow-melting chemicals. We are looking for hardy, active people that want to move around at work and learn more about the facilities management field. Rest breaks, snacks and warming opportunities during shifts will be provided.
Walk Laborer Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Shovel snow and/or operate snowblower to remove snow in designated areas
Load and unload bags of salt into spreader or bucket
Apply snow/ice management chemicals with a push spreader or manually
Accurately and promptly follow directions from supervisor
Walk Laborer Requirements Skills/ Experience
Able to work 4-8 hours of physical labor outside. May involve longer shifts for heavier snowstorms if desired
Transportation to and from Franklin Park office required
Need to have a cell phone for clocking in, clocking out and communication with supervisor
On-Call availability from October 15th to April 30th, must be willing and able to work long hours, weekends and holidays
Required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift, grasp, carry, push and pull
Must be able to shovel snow for extended periods of time
Must be able to lift and/or move 50 pounds plus
Must provide own outdoor footwear (boots), clothing, gloves and head covering appropriate for outside conditions.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
