Job Overview

The Whey Machine Operator is responsible for assisting in all membrane processing operations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Operate and clean the U.F. / N.F.s / R.O.s and other membrane equipment in automatic and manual modes.

  • Operate and clean the HTSTs / pasteurizers to the satisfaction of all regulatory agencies.

  • Operate and clean separators, clarifiers, and other fines removing equipment in manual and automatic mode.

  • Operate, clean and sanitize all associated whey processing plant areas and equipment to ensure all regulatory agency requirements are met for food grade whey.

  • Troubleshoot, adjust and solve any processing problems to produce an acceptable final product.

  • Perform lab work and maintain all records as required.

  • Train and oversee work of trainees.

  • Obtain and maintain any licenses required.

  • Receive and ship cream, chemical and salt whey load outs.

  • Work overtime/holidays as required.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the manager.

The pay for this position is $24.35 to $24.90. All offers will be based on a candidate’s skills, prior relevant experience, applicable degrees and certifications, and internal equity. This range is specific to New York and may not be applicable to other locations.

Required Education and Experience

• Ability to adapt to change quickly.

• Ability to understand the basic operation of evaporator and dryer and be capable of making process adjustments to them.

• Basic computer skills required.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or GED.

  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and related equipment.

  • Ability to make minor decisions based on standard practices.

  • Basic math skills to adjust process changes.

  • SAP experience.

Working Conditions

• Ability to constantly stand/walk; bend/flex/extend neck; frequently grip/reach/lift/pull with L/R hands.

• Ability to frequently handle material from floor-to-waist, waist-to-shoulder and pushing/pulling/carrying.

• Product weight: up to 50 lbs.

• Repetitive work in a fast-paced production environment with average temperature of 50-60 degrees F.
