Description:

The Senior Payroll Specialist position is responsible for supporting key payroll-related initiatives, providing backup for weekly and biweekly payroll tasks, and serving as the technical liaison for assigned functional areas within our current HRIS system – UKG Pro. This position is a detailed, hands-on role as part of the payroll function, ensuring that the company is compliant with state and federal payroll laws.

•Assist with payroll initiatives in the UKG Pro payroll system. Assist with the design, testing, and implementation of any system enhancements and upgrades.

•Recommend process/customer service improvements, innovative solutions, and policy changes that will reduce turnaround time, while achieving high expectations for accuracy. Provide overall project management to support HRIS/HCM initiatives.

•Write, maintain, and support a variety of reports or queries using Business Intelligence (BI/ Cognos Analytics) in UKG Pro or other reporting systems. Help maintain data integrity in systems by running queries and analyzing data.

•Oversee end-to-end processing of weekly and biweekly payrolls including maintaining strong quality control measures.

•Serve as a payroll liaison to answer timekeeping/payroll related questions, implement enhancements, and resolve any issues. Support the process of the payment of payroll taxes on behalf of company ensuring that the company is in compliance with state and federal payroll laws and regulations.

•Stay abreast of current legislation and trends affecting payroll and make recommendations accordingly.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university with an accounting or business concentration preferred

Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in payroll, Prior experience in a multi-state, multi-site organization with 400 or more employees is highly desirable

Knowledge: Federal/state labor laws and regulations affecting payroll and PTO, Intimate knowledge of HRIS systems, preferably with UKG Pro, SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Certified Payroll Practitioner (CPP) certification
