L.L.Bean is currently searching for an Network Architect to join the Information Services Team located in Freeport, Maine.

Hybrid role: (2+ days onsite).

Position Purpose: The Information Systems Network Architect is responsible for the evolution of L.L.Beans Information Technology architecture (solution, application, information and technical). The Information Systems Architect defines Information Technology strategies in alignment with corporate business strategies and industry trends, acting as visionary to proactively define and govern the Information Technology Reference Architecture (RA) for the organization. Working closely with project teams and portfolio managers, the Information Systems Architect guides the selection, engineering and integration of business solutions ensuring that business needs are met, expected outcomes are obtained, and required service levels are achieved. The Information Systems Architect provides technical guidance and oversight of architectural standards to delivery and support organizations, and is accountable for ensuring adherence to those standards. This position has significant organizational impact, requiring enterprise/domain perspective, knowledge and leadership. The scope of the Information Systems Architect l is generally focused within a portfolio or domain, and operates at an intermediate level of architectural complexity, risk and impact to the overall organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership in aligning IT portfolio with business strategy
  • Define and lead strategies for how technology can best serve the company to achieve objectives.
  • Consider architectural alternatives to guide discussions on investment options
  • Develop architectural viewpoints (business process, information, technology, etc.).
  • Utilize knowledge of business strategy, migration plans, and reference architecture to help define project scope, timeline, resource requirements, and Cost/Benefit Analysis (all at high level).
  • Translate business requirements and architectural directions (represented in the RA) into program/project deliverables and establishing architectural guardrails for project.
  • Monitor and communicate models, documents, and migration plans that reflect architectural decisions. Develop technology roadmap(s) and evolution strategies. Shepard exception requests through the Architectural governance process.
  • Steward RA. Bring gaps & exceptions to Arch Gov process, as well as architecture migration and obsolescence. Act as a change agent within the organization
  • Enforce our RA with business partners and project team members, and educate on the value of staying within technology corridor.
  • Guide project teams on Data Management Principles, Policies and Standards.
  • Develop strategies for integration and re-use.
  • Develop strategies for securing and protecting L.L.Beans Data Assets in alignment with Information Compliance policies.
  • Establish standard processes for defining, modeling and creating architecture & technical deliverables (and maintaining and obsoleting).
  • Consult and provide guidance to architects and technical leads in the approach and design of solution domain.
  • Review/Approve high-level designs, code, standards, etc. to ensure architectural integrity is maintained.
  • Has decision-making authority for technical and business architecture implementations within domain
  • Provide options for approaching specific technical problems, along with cor esponding high-level estimates, costs, and benefits.
  • Responsible for defining technical sections of RFP, evaluating RFP responses, searching for solutions that fit within our reference architecture.
  • Develop and ensure adherence to the Service Level Agreements with business areas for portfolio.
  • Participate in and lead forums that influence the definition and consumption of architectural views.
  • Keep current on industry trends and the direction our competitors are heading with respect to business capabilities and technology.
  • Perform research, formal evaluation and prototyping of leading/emerging technologies
  • Responsible for interacting with vendor partner (technical and solution architects, sales representatives, etc.) and facilitating technical problem resolution.
  • Responsible for 24/7 research and resolution of production system problems
