Software Engineering Area Lead
POWER’s Advanced Utility Solutions (AUS) team is seeking a Software Engineering Services Area Lead to join our team of industry experts as we continue building the digital utility of the future! We are looking for an experienced software engineer that that can use their expertise to manage, design, develop and deploy custom software solutions for our industry leading clients.
The selected individual may be able to work remotely or out of one of our many office locations.
Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities:
Service Area leadership
Develop business and organizational strategies for integration and customization services.
Manage the service area’s resources and tasks.
Assist with employee recruiting, hiring and retention.
Provide career path and mentoring for team members.
Develop training and other career development plans.
Develop technical and organizational strategies for integration and customization technologies.
Participate in corporate Knowledge Management Program (KMP) activities.
Lead the KMP / Subject Matter Team (SMT) for the service area.
Participate in strategic business unit initiatives and help to improve business unit processes, procedures, templates, and guidelines.
Coordinate with sales and marketing as needed on proposals and marketing initiatives.
Interface with and support company Project Managers on proposals, project work, resource allocations and personnel as needed.
Assist with business planning and execution of the annual business plan.
Technical leadership
Lead software engineering team’s use and deployment of technologies that support off the shelf software solutions including Esri’s suite of software for ArcGIS Enterprise.
Establish and manage standards for integration and customization requirements gathering, software architecture and management of software engineering projects.
Establish and manage standards for solution architecture and design of integrated enterprise solutions.
Lead team’s use of software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, SDLC).
Provide oversight of project engineering and management of work items.
Provide technical oversight of resources on projects.
Review project deliverables as needed for governing standards and quality.
Provide conceptual architecture, design, and work estimates for business development.
Lead technical focus groups for technologies used for this service area.
Lead teams in prototyping solutions as needed for business development and project work.
Required Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in GIS, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Management, other technical science degree, or equivalent work experience.
Candidate must have 10+ years of hands-on software development experience.
Must have 5+ years of data interface or system integration experience.
Have 5+ years of building, leading, and managing technical project teams.
Desired Education/Experience:
Electric, water, telco, or gas utility experience including experience with a wide variety of operational systems that are typically used with a focus on GIS-centric systems.
Esri GIS software development experience.
Mobile solution development for varying mobile platforms (iOS, Android, Windows).
Relational database experience: MS SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres
Cloud Providers/Technology experience: AWS Cloud Formation Templates, Terraform, AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud.
Container Development and deployment experience: Docker, Kubernetes.
Candidate should have knowledge of typical software development tools including Visual Studio or similar IDE, .NET, Java, JavaScript, JSON, XML, Python, FME, and ArcPy.
REST development, deployment, and operational experience.
Candidate should have knowledge of software such as MS DevOps, Jira, Slack, MS Teams, Smartsheet and the Microsoft Office suite of products that are typically used for managing resources.

Salary DOE: The pay range for this position is $150K-$180K per year; however, base pay may be higher or lower depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This figure does not include additional compensation such as health benefits, vacation, 401k, etc.
