Description:

Reporting to the Manager, Cancer Registry Svcs, Cancer Registry Services, this position functions as a data specialist to accurately identify, collect, classify, code, stage, analyze and abstract, and where applicable, follow all reportable neoplasms diagnosed and/or treated at Saint Agnes Medical Center in accordance with State cancer reporting guidelines, and to ensure maintenance of the Commission on Cancer (CoC) accredited cancer program and The Joint Commission (TJC) accreditation requirements.

Pay Range: 26.24 - 35.42

  1. High school diploma or equivalent is required. Associate degree in a health-related field is preferred.

  2. Must be actively pursuing Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) certification.

  3. Ability to gather and communicate technical and clinical information regarding patient care is required.

  4. Knowledge and understanding of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology is required. Knowledge of automated cancer data systems for case finding, abstracting, staging, coding, follow-up, data retrieval and analysis is preferred.

  5. Two (2) years of cancer registry experience in an acute care facility is preferred.

  6. Understanding of State and CoCr reporting requirements inclusive of: ICD-9-CM, ICD-O, TNM/SEER coding, and National Cancer Data Base (NCDB) Cancer Program performance measures is preferred.
