Job Title: Community Engagement Director

FLSA Status: Full Time - ExemptReports to: In-charge (Envoy)

Schedule: M-F 9am-5pm

Rate of Pay:$60000/yr

Benefits: Standard; Full-Time, Exempt employees are eligible for but not limited to the following:

Function:

The Community Engagement Manager plays a crucial role in building and nurturing relationships with corporate partners, volunteers, and the local community. The CEM is responsible for managing virtual and physical drives, strengthening corporate and community partnerships, and supporting volunteerism. In conjunction with the local Advisory Board, the CEM also engages with community members to raise awareness and promote The Salvation Army’s initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate opportunities for community lunch and learns, workshops, third-party events, and meetings, presenting TSA to encourage volunteerism, engage new audiences, and expand the donor and volunteer pool.

  • Lead young professional (Echelon) education initiatives on behalf of the organization, including planning, coordinating, and overseeing special Echelon volunteer shift events and other engagement activities to foster community involvement and organizational support.

  • Develop and maintain all community relationships related to, but not limited to, third party events, peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns, cause marketing events, food, clothing, hygiene, back-to-school, toy and fund drives.

  • Research and initiate new forms of community participation such as local food parades, festivals, community tables, events, booths, etc.

  • Engage all online communication vehicles, including, but not limited to, the local TSA webpage, email marketing to local groups, and online social media, including Facebook, Instagram, etc.

  • Coordinate and assist with the engagement of program tours, in-kind donations and check presentations for members of corporations, foundations, civic groups, and community groups.

  • Attend community agency meetings, community partner tours, and participate in speaking engagements/presentations representing TSA & report relevant information directly pertaining to TSA programs and opportunities.

  • Act as a liaison to disseminate information to outside agencies regarding the availability of TSA services to promote positive program outcomes in service to the community.

  • Recruit new volunteers, cultivate relationships with, retain and recognize (volunteer appreciation) existing volunteers and utilize volunteers to complete needed projects requested by the program team.

  • Assist in program planning for key partner opportunities and actively solicit corporate and group volunteer participation, including Back to School Event, Red Kettle Campaign, Angel Tree Program, corporate giving days, meal packing events, etc.

  • Expand the strategy with partnership with CSU: Intern/Volunteer program in conjunction with CSU.

  • Assist in program planning to include development of Social Service programs and finding resources to expand upon existing programs.

  • Generate reports, including statistics, data collection, and data entry.

  • Track metrics and analyze data to measure effectiveness.

  • In conjunction with the Advisory Board and command leaders, the CEM will foster collaboration with local stakeholders to grow donor and volunteer relationships.

Qualification and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university.

  • Ability to assist The Salvation Army Offices and Board in modeling best practices, developing innovative ideas, and client-centered growth

  • Commitment to excellence and efficiency, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively to create solutions within a deadline-driven environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfortability speaking in both small-group and large-group settings.

  • Excellent organizational, time management, and follow-through skills.

  • Ability to exercise appropriate level of professionalism and discretion when dealing with confidential information.

  • Continued employment will be contingent on a biennial (every 2 years) background check that is processed in accordance with The Salvation Army’s policies.

  • If the position includes driving responsibilities, an annual MVR will be processed in accordance with The Salvation Army’s policies.

  • If the position requires driving, a minimum of 21 years of age for insurance provision, along with the possession of a valid in-state driver’s license is required.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull, and reach overhead. Ability to operate telephone. Ability to lift to 25 pounds. Ability to access and produce information from the computer. Ability to understand written information.
