Overview

Tanaq Support Services (TSS) delivers professional, scientific, and technical services and information technology (IT) solutions to federal agencies in health, agriculture, technology, and other government services. TSS is a subsidiary of the St. George Tanaq Corporation, an Alaskan Native Corporation (ANC) committed to serving Federal customers while also giving back to the Tanaq native community and shareholders.

About the Role

We are seeking a Technical Assistance Provider Coordinator to support a Tribal Implementation Center under the Public Health Data Modernization Program. The center will provide technical assistance and aid Tribes and Tribal organizations in data modernization efforts while ensuring culturally-appropriate approaches that respect indigenous values and Tribal data sovereignty.

This role will coordinate deliverables and staff, work with key stakeholders/partners, and provide strategic direction for various technical assistance activities.

This is a fully remote position that can be based in Atlanta, GA or anywhere in the U.S. Some travel (15% of time) may be required to various locations in the U.S. to attend meetings, conferences, etc. This position is contingent upon contract award.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate potential partners and technical assistance providers.

  • Help develop charters, use cases, co-design, best practices, and other solutions.

  • Collaborate with communications staff to develop technical assistance, training, communication, and partnership plans and associated key performance metrics

  • Work with Tribes and Tribal organizations while ensuring culturally-appropriate approaches and communications that respect indigenous values and Tribal data sovereignty

  • Support the development, adaptation, creation, testing, and dissemination/delivery of training content and resources, communication products, community engagement tools, and messages to different audiences utilizing various formats

  • Conduct learning needs assessments to inform training content and develop tailored training exercises (e.g., training breakout sessions)

  • Coordinate efforts between public health agencies/departments, subject matter experts, partners, stakeholders, and the project ensuring project goals are being met

  • Provide technical assistance to internal and external partners

  • Collaborate with communications staff to develop and/or re-design printed, digital and social media, and multi-media materials that educate priority populations in a culturally-appropriate manner

  • Collaborate with communications staff to translate complex health information into evidence-based messages for a variety of audiences applying the principles of plain language

  • Conduct and apply findings from literature searches and environmental scans

  • Develop and deliver presentations as needed.

  • Train and mentor junior staff

  • Perform other related duties as required

Requirements

Required Experience and Skills

  • Minimum 6 years’ work experience in health communication, public health, social marketing, or closely related fields required

  • Experience developing and delivering training and technical assistance in a virtual environment, ideally for public health data modernization initiatives

  • Prior experience working with public health agencies, grantees, and/or Tribes and Tribal organization strongly desired

  • Demonstrated cultural competence in providing services to or working with Tribes and Tribal organizations while ensuring culturally-appropriate approaches that respect indigenous values and Tribal data sovereignty

  • Understanding of adult learning styles and training techniques

  • Ability to analyze and interpret public health and related data

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team and meet multiple tight deadlines

  • Well-versed in Microsoft Office products

  • Excellent organizational skills. Ability to multi-task and prioritize

  • Strong critical and creative thinker

  • Ability to translate and disseminate scientific information across a variety of platforms

  • Ability to research and evaluate communication research studies, strategies, and projects

  • Prior experience coordinating staff

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future

Education and Training

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, communications, marketing, journalism or other relevant field required; Master's degree preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. May need to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.

  • Ability to travel (15% of time) to various locations in the U.S. to attend meetings, conferences, etc.
