Job Description:
The student assistant position in FYCS is for a Part-Time (10-20 hours based on work permit) Federal Work Study Student to work in the advising office. This position will assist both the online graduate program and the undergraduate program. Family, Youth and Community Sciences (FYCS) is an applied social science department that provides education and experience for careers in human services, community development, cooperative extension, and youth professions. Due to some tasks, the student may be exposed to confidential files and data and required to take an online FERPA training course. The student is expected to not share confidential information with others outside the department.
Description of duties:
Answer phone calls, take messages, and return phone calls
Assist with administrative tasks of the online graduate program
Receive visitors and answers basic questions from students
Maintain confidentiality of student records
Office duties such as scanning, copying, and mailing
Run clerical errands on campus
Word processing, editing, transcribing, proofreading, data entry, etc.
Other duties as assigned
Expected Salary:
$13.00/Hour
Minimum Requirements:
Be a current University of Florida full-time student in good standing with the University
Qualify for the Federal Work-Study (FWS) Program in Fall and Spring
Demonstrate a desire and willingness to learn in a fast-paced team-oriented environment
Establish an exemplary work ethic by being dependable, productive, paying attention to details and maintaining effective communication.
Ability to dedicate 10-15 hours per week
Preferred Qualifications:
Fine attention to detail, professionalism, dependability and effective communication skills
Ability to work as a team member
Prior customer service skills are preferred
Demonstrated communication, organizational and leadership skills
Effective interpersonal communication skills
Self-starter; self-motivated; timely
