Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Semi Skilled Laborer (Seasonal)- Susquehannock State Forest, Lyman Run Shop in Galeton, Pennsylvania

POSITION *This is a seasonal, full-time position WITHOUTBENEFITS. The season runs from approximately March until November at which time the employee is placed on leave without pay. Then join the Department of Conservation and Natural Resource's Susquehannock State Forest and perform semi-skilled manual work involving a variety of tasks in the construction, maintenance and repair of state forest roads, buildings, trails, grounds and other facilities. **This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver's license. The employee may be required to work a non-standard schedule and work overtime as situations require. DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position performs basic manual work using a variety of tools including hand, power, shop, carpentry, and mechanic tools to perform basic construction, maintenance, and repair projects. This position may operate trucks up to 26,000 GVW, tractors, mowers and, at times, heavy equipment to accomplish designated projects, and performs preventative and maintenance work on tools and equipment. Duties also include responding to fire calls and fighting wildfires when needed. Essential Functions: *Travel on foot *Negotiate rough terrain *Follow verbal instructions *Follow written instruction *Complete basic computer data entry *Complete basic written reports *Work for extended periods of time without modern facilities. *Lift and move objects up to 40 lbs.
