WORK LOCATION

This position will work at the Galveston Campus 60% of the time and Angleton Danbury Campus 40% of the time. Must be willing to work at both locations.

NUCLEAR MEDICINE TECHNOLOGIST I

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist I position works independently to complete a variety of nuclear medicine procedures to include diagnostic and therapeutic exams of moderate complexity. This position provides direct assistance to physicians with all diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. This Nuclear Medicine Technologist I position delivers exceptional patient care and adheres to nuclear medicine exam standards and guidelines established by governing agencies to ensure optimal patient safety and customer service. This position is a member of the direct patient care team.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Associates of Applied Science

  • Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program

  • 0+ years of experience

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS

  • American Registry for Radiology Technologist (ARRT-N) or NMTCB Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT)

  • Texas Medical Board certification (MRT)

  • American Heart Association (ACLS)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assists physicians during diagnostic procedures including assisting with sterile technique.

  • Utilizes AIDET incorporating Key Words and MANAGE UP techniques, when speaking to patients and family members at an age-appropriate level.

  • Performs diagnostic nuclear medicine procedures to include common, special exams of moderate complexity.

  • Practices radiation safety and ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable).

  • Follows safety standards and conducts all imaging procedures accordingly.

  • Maintains proper sterile techniques for procedures.

  • Complies with job role, department and hospital safety standards, practices, and policies.

  • Participate in WASTE walks and supports department LEAN projects.

  • Reports near misses and inputs errors promptly into appropriate hospital patient safety reporting system to improve processes and identify trends.

  • Performs hot lab and imaging equipment quality control (QC) at required frequencies ensuring all hot lab and imaging equipment is in safe working order prior to use. Reports any malfunctions to management and regularly practices preventive maintenance procedures; calls for service if needed.

  • Utilizes critical thinking skills to observe and proactively address patient reactions (i.e. medications) or potential outcomes and obtains assistance, as appropriate.

  • Provides accurate and complete documentation of patient procedures. Enters charges at the time service is delivered.

  • Uses resources efficiently; does not waste supplies.

  • Ensures their personal timecard is accurate and approves it in a timely manner to prevent retro amendments.

  • Participates in department projects or shared governance activities.

NUCLEAR MEDICINE TECHNOLOGIST II

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist II position is an experienced technologist who completes a variety of routine to complex diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures. This position is a member of the direct patient care team and is fully competent in all aspects of nuclear medicine exams. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist II position serves as a mentor & trainer to the Nuclear Medicine Technologist I and students. position works independently by exercising sound judgment and executing above average clinical skills on challenging diagnostic procedures. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist II position provides direct assistance to physicians with all diagnostic andtherapeutic nuclear medicine procedures. This position delivers exceptional patient care and adheres to nuclear medicine exam standards and guidelines established by governing agencies to ensure optimal patient safety and customer service.

  • Associates of Applied Science

  • Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program

  • 3+ years of experience

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS

  • American Registry for Radiology Technologist (ARRT-N) or NMTCB Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT)

  • Texas Medical Board certification (MRT)

  • American Heart Association (ACLS)

As a requirement to administer CT contrast one of the below will also be required:

  • American Registry for Radiology Technologist (ARRT-CT)

  • NMTCB Computed Tomography Certification (NMTCB-CT)
