JOB SUMMARY:

Oversight and facilitation for the operational aspects of all events taking place in the Adelphi PAC facilities and day to day building operations. This person will be the hands-on manager who works with all student groups, outside groups and internal stakeholders. This position reports to Adelphi PAC Director of Production and working in collaboration with resident department chairs..

SALARY INFORMATION:

In compliance with New York’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $46,000 - $51,000. Adelphi University considers factors such as departmental budgets, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. An annual base salary higher than the range may be warranted in circumstances where a candidate has demonstrable equivalent prior higher education experience at another University.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Oversight and facilitation for the operational aspects of all events taking place in the Adelphi PAC facilities and day to day building operations. This will include occasional evening and weekend hours.

  • Supervision for the work and development of the Front of House Manager and numerous student employees for Front of House operations.

  • Oversight and management of Front of House operations staff. Assist in direct supervision of Front of House operations for events as needed.

  • Coordinating internal facility space allocation schedules (and coordinating with central University offices to ensure smooth and frequent entry into performing and teaching spaces for University entities and external facility space renters) including EMS Administration for the Adelphi PAC;

  • Work with various groups (internal and external) using the facilities to ensure proper scheduling, staffing and production needs. Work with University offices to ensure proper contracting and billing where appropriate.

  • Provide training as needed so that necessary faculty, staff and students can properly use all technical equipment in classrooms.

  • Overseeing maintenance, repair and replacement of all facility equipment and the physical plant in coordination with appropriate University departments. Coordinating with University departments any improvements or repairs to the building and resolution of daily maintenance issues.

  • Order and purchase supplies for building operations as needed in consultation with Production Manager.

  • Hire, train, and supervise student employees as evening and weekend operations assistants.

  • Assist the Adelphi PAC Director of Production with the technical and logistics coordination for Commencement Exercises; coordinating between the President’s office, Auxiliary Services and outside vendors.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Production, Adelphi PAC.

    REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Administrative experience with the Microsoft Office suite, event scheduling software (EMS, etc.), and personnel scheduling.

  • Ability to be organized, pay attention to detail and prioritize workload are essential.

  • Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required based on event needs.

  • Basic working knowledge of theater and technical theater operations (i.e. front of house, light board, sound board and a/v operations) are an asset, but not necessarily a requirement.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position requires: frequent bending and movement, occasional lifting of items up to 50 pounds, the ability to climb stairs and ladders.

    EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma with at least 5 years’ experience in University Theater or performing arts department or Bachelor’s degree with 2 years’ experience in University theater or performing arts department.
