Campus Title Lecturer in Genetics

Department Biology

Position Summary

The State University of New York at Geneseo Department of Biology invites applications for an anticipated opening for a two-year lecturer position, with opportunity to renew, to begin in August 2025. The duties of the position include:

  • Teaching courses in Genetics and Heredity (majors and non-majors, lectures and labs)

  • Teaching additional courses, particularly Introductory Biology and Molecular Biology (lectures and labs)

  • Online teaching using the SUNY learning management system

  • Academic advising

  • Service to the department

Our priority is teaching excellence. We seek someone with a strong commitment to teaching in a liberal arts setting and who is prepared to teach courses in their area of speciality as well as contribute to the introductory courses. A commitment to inclusive pedagogy and working effectively with students from diverse backgrounds is essential.

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • The candidate must have a Master’s or Ph.D. in a relevant discipline conferred by the time of appointment and be qualified to teach Genetics lectures and labs as in-person, online, and hybrid courses.

  • The candidate must have experience teaching undergraduate biology courses.

  • Competitive candidates will also have demonstrated a commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment and the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and constituents.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Competitive candidates will have relevant teaching and research experience in their field and the ability to teach. Preferred fields include Genetics and Molecular Biology. Competitive candidates will also have demonstrated a commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment, and demonstrated a commitment and ability to work effectively with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and constituents.
