    Education

    Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field, and NYS teaching license or written plan to obtain certification within 5 years.

    Preferred: NYS Teaching License

    License/Certifications

    Certification: Teaching license or certificate valid for services in the childhood grades set forth by the NYS Education Law required for UPK Lead Teacher.

    Experience

    Minimum: 3 years full time teaching experience in educational preschool or related classroom setting.

    Responsibility Summary

    Position requires ability to supervise teaching assistants and work collaboratively to develop an action plan for growth and success of the individual. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other Lead Teachers planning, organizing and evaluating needs of the Center's educational programs and improvement initiatives.

    Essential Functions

  • Provide nurturing, individualized care according to the developmental needs of each child in collaboration with the parent and as defined by NYS Regulations, NYS Department of Education, NAEYCE Standards and Center policy.

  • Ensure that a developmentally appropriate early childhood education program is developed and implemented according to NAEYC standards and NYS Department of Education Pre-k standards. Attend UPK monthly meetings at the Geneva School District.

  • Act as preceptor, guiding new teachers through the orientation and training process. Provide expertise and on-going support to teachers as they gain the knowledge and skills to become teaching partners.

  • Complete all classroom documentation, produce newsletters and other correspondence in an accurate and expeditious fashion as part of the Center's commitment to quality communication. Conduct Pre-K entrance developmental screening and on-line Pre-K assessment.

  • Salary: $21.41
