Position Highlights
Job Summary
Accountable for providing quality nursing care to our patients and residents within their scope of practice. Supervises the staff working with them to coordinate cares with ancillary staff and to communicate effectively with the providers to ensure quality patient/resident care. Comprehensive knowledge of general nursing theory and practice, including the basic knowledge related to nursing, such as psychological, physical, social, and medical sciences, and their application, for better understanding of patient/resident care problems. Thorough knowledge of principles and methods involved in in-service instruction of nursing and auxiliary personnel, in demonstrating techniques and methods of nursing procedures, and in instruction of patients/residents. Familiarity with organization and function of all departments; with all policies, regulations, and procedures. Knowledge of literature and new developments in the nursing field. Knowledge of application of principles or personnel administration in assigning, supervising, and evaluating activities of staff.
Essential Job Functions
Responsible for direct supervision of nursing activities of the facility. Interpreting procedures and policies and reviewing work performance to determine conformance to recognized standards of nursing care. Assists in orientation of new personnel to unit.

Maintains quality of patient/resident care, including compliance with provider orders and hospital and LTC policies.

Maintains good working relationships among nursing staff supervised, and with medical staff and assigns duties to professional nursing and technical personnel, according to needs and competence of staff to provide holistic care of patients/residents.

Maintains professional and technical knowledge and participates in in-service for nursing personnel, and monthly staff meetings.

Assesses, implements and evaluates patient/resident care. Administers medications observing for reactions. Reports changes in condition and provides condensed and explicit report of patient/resident condition and care to nursing personnel at shift change to provide continuity of care.

Documents nursing and medical treatments and related services executed by nurses reflecting patient condition.
•
Maintains supplies and equipment in adequate numbers and working order following infection control policies.

Begins discharge planning and offers services available providing education and rehabilitation.

Provides services as needed in hospital as Ambulance RN attendant and optional assistance with “on call” coverage for nursing team. Provides nursing coverage as needed in both hospital (Med/Surg/ED) and LTC.

Education
License/Certification/Registration
Registered Nurse (RN) - Board of Nursing
An active license in the state of practice required upon hire
Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC) - Emergency Nurses Association within 180 Days required
Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course - Emergency Nurses Association or equivalent preferred
Experience
3-5 years required
May be eligible for up to $100,000 sign on bonus over 6 years
7:00am-7:00pm, 7:00pm-7:00am: E3rd wknd/hol, occas call; 72hrs/2wks

A Brief Overview
Practices under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice registered nurse, licensed physician, or other health care provider. The LPN organizes and directs those aspects of care for which he/she is accountable; communicating and coordinating care with well-defined nursing diagnoses, including all health team members.

Collects data and conducts a focused nursing assessment of the health status of a patient.
Participates with other health care providers in the development and modification of the patient-centered health care plan.
Implements nursing interventions within a patient-centered health care plan.
Assists in the evaluation of responses to interventions.
Provides for the maintenance of safe and effective nursing care rendered directly or indirectly.
Advocates for the best interest of the patient.
Communicates and collaborates with patients and members of the health care team.
Assists with health counseling and teaching;
Delegates and assigns nursing interventions to implement the plan of care.
