At Sylvan Learning Center, we teach students (Kindergarten through High School) at various levels to increase confidence and independence, providing them with skills that will last a lifetime. We are currently looking for experienced tutors to work at our Glendale learning center, experienced in the following: * MATH (up to Algebra 2 or beyond) * READING/WRITING (up to 12th grade) * TEST PREP (with training). As an Instructor at Sylvan, your primary responsibilities are: Teaching and building rapport with students. NO LESSON PLANS! ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS * Supervise, interact with, and motivate students * Reward students for completed assignments * Evaluate and document student progress * Communicate student needs to the center director * Inspire and develop a rapport with students * Establish a fun learning environment * Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and Sylvan KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED * Four year degree or equivalent preferred but not required * State or provincial teaching credentials preferred (current or expired) * Minimum of one or two years of teaching experience preferred * Knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension preferred for reading teachers Compensation: $17-$20/hour
