The Impact You Can Make The Pre Service Supervisor will work with the Pre Service Manager as well as department staff to ensure a smooth and orderly work flow as needed to maintain department standards and patient care and will also prioritize stage and balance work assignments for the Pre Service units. The Supervisor regularly serves as primary Leader on evenings, nights, and/or weekends * *Team Impact Please note that this position will be based out in Malta and Glens Falls Hospital. Location:Oncology, Hematology and Infusion Services at Malta Medical Park * Act as a liaison with insurance companies, health maintenance organizations, managed care contract companies to obtain insurance verification data and pre-certification approval information. Provides updates to pre-certification requirements. * Orients / trains/ assigns mentors for new employees as pre-service is unique due to scheduling duties and responsibilities. * Oversee Pre-Service and Centralized Scheduling units in absence of manager(s) * Delegates tasks according to staffing needs due to call off’s, vacation, unforeseen absences, unforeseen needs of ancillary departments (both on and off campus). * *The Glens Falls Hospital Impact Mission Our Mission is to improve the health of people in our region by providing access to exceptional, affordable, and patient-centered care every day and in every setting. * *How You Will Fulfill Your Potential Responsibilities * Assist Patient Access Pre Service Manager in conducting quality assurance activities daily, i.e.… provide “follow up” on identified scheduling / preregistration errors and issues. * Performs all duties of the Patient Access Specialist and / or Registrar as needed. * Assist the Patient Access Pre Service Manager in the supervision and control of Scheduling / Pre-Service wait times of patients to ensure level of service. * Assist Patient Access Pre Service Manager in training of new employees/ resources from other areas and assists in other duties as needed. Assists by supplying and distributing educational materials as needed and completing with skills competency check lists. * Provide input to the Patient Access Pre Service Manager as it relates to the coordination of staffing, i.e.… ensure appropriate staffing levels of the area by assisting in the preparation and maintenance of the monthly master schedule. Shares on call and weekend coverage as a member of the Patient Access leadership team. Covers for manager when manager is out. Education/Experience: * High School Graduate or equivalent * 3 years experience in a medical office / similar setting, to include knowledge of insurance and pre-certification. * Associates degree preferred Note: specifications are as such due to detail required of each Pre-Service area required to schedule (i.e. Preps, Medications, Authorizations, Invasive Procedures, Multiple testing scheduling and interactions). Skills/Abilities: * Strong keyboarding skills * Strong computer skills * Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word / Excel. * Medical Terminology. * Ability to read, analyze, interpret business documents, policies and procedures. * Ability to effectively communicate sensitive information. * Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions, and deal with problems effectively. * Strong customer service orientation – experienced in establishing and maintaining long term customer relationships, building trust and respect by consistently meeting and exceeding expectations.
