What will I be doing?

Are you ready to take your career to new heights? Safran Landing Systems in Gloucester is offering a dynamic opportunity to join our expanding Technical Data department as a Technical Data Controller (TDC). Reporting to the Technical Data Manager (TDM), this role is both challenging and exciting, offering the chance to work at the forefront of the aviation industry.

As a Technical Data Controller (TDC), you will take charge of the Technical & Project Management of various work packages for specific programs. You will be the primary point of contact for Aircraft Manufacturers, Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) organizations, and both internal and external customers regarding all Technical Data issues for the defined programs.

• Project Management: Working closely with the TDM, you will estimate the necessary resources to achieve program objectives, set targets and goals, and develop detailed plans and schedules. Lead reviews with aircraft manufacturers and suppliers, ensuring all program activities are on track and meet high-quality standards. Initiate communication with internal functions.

• Resource Management: Coordinate contributors from various sites involved in the aircraft program, ensuring effective collaboration and resource allocation.

• Supplier Management: Provide input and seek advice/guidance from the TDM during the supplier selection process when required.

• Quality Management: Oversee the quality of deliverables, ensuring thorough checks and validations, and securing necessary approvals. Coordinate quality control of suppliers and provide performance feedback to the TDM on a monthly basis.

• Delivery Management: Ensure timely and accurate delivery of technical documentation to meet program schedules and customer requirements.

• Innovation: Actively contribute to the innovation and enhancement of technical documentation, staying aligned with industry standards and the latest developments.

Job Requirements

What do you need from me?

While there will be training tailored to the successful candidate's experience profile, the following skills and requirements are essential considerations for selection:

Mandatory

• Aircraft Systems Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of aircraft components and systems operations, with the capability to translate technical details into comprehensive and user-friendly documentation.

• Aviation Technical Data Expertise: In-depth knowledge of technical data and documentation, especially Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs) and Service Bulletins (SBs), to support equipment modifications and updates.

Proven ability to interpret engineering documents (like Engineering Drawings, Assembly Drawings, Test Instructions/Procedures etc.), and develop content in compliance with the international aviation technical documentation standards.

• Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency with MS Office products and familiarity with specialized technical documentation software.

• Attention to Detail: Proven ability to, meticulously pay attention to detail, solve complex problems, and communicate effectively within a multinational environment.

• Project Management Skills: Significant experience in planning, coordinating, and managing technical data/documentation projects within the aviation industry.

Good to Have:

• Aviation Technical Data Authoring: Experience in technical data authoring, with a strong command of the English language to ensure clear, precise, and effective documentation.

Knowledge of authoring & illustration tools like Adobe Frame maker, Arbortext Editor, PTC IsoDraw, etc. Knowledge of aviation Tech Data standards including ATA100, iSpec 2200, S1000D & ASD STE.

Experience in development of Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (IETP).

• Engineering Environment Experience: Experience in a production, assembly, or engineering environment, with a strong grasp of engineering principles and practices.
